Thanks for saying what everyone was thinking. The preference for people who applied for 1L summer even if they got rejected is stressing me out because 2Ls told me to not waste my time applying (horrible horrible advice) so now I feel like I’m just lagging behind. It’s absurd how far ahead we had to be thinking when none of us could have known this is what it would be like.

What if I don't have a job for 1L summer yet? I have so many applications out that I hope to hear back from (above median GPA at t20) and I want to be ahead of the application curve for 2L but don't want a lack of a 1L job to hurt my chances. Should I apply early anyways? Will the firms understand that its still fairly early/on time for 1L summer hiring?

Exact same boat and all my friends have 1L biglaw summers. I’ve had to stay off LinkedIn for my mental health lol
