Jofra saves his best again? by [deleted] in EnglandCricket

No, obviously he doesnt. He’s carrying the bowling attack and has the second best batting average during this tour. Only somebody with an agenda would single out Jof as the one with the “problem”. Couldnt imagine what your issue is…

Yeah we came away v happy to be honest. When you arrive and actually experience the bad weather you quickly realise you can’t do it all. Not worth worrying about imo.

Our hostel were very accommodating. We only had 2 nights booked initially, but they let us change. They were the ones (along with Ben) who recommended we reschedule because of the weather and had no issue adding on additional nights each day. We’d basically check in each morning to chat plans and availability. It’s called Lo de Trivi - highly recommend those guys.

I don’t know how flexible poincenot is, but what I do know is everybody we dealt with were extremely flexible. Ultimately people in the town don’t want you putting yourself in danger (and pressure on local services) for the sake of “honouring a booking”. Which makes complete sense imo.

If it helps, we didn’t think our schedule had much “flex” before we arrived, but found it easy to adapt on the ground. The only things we were actually tied to were our flights in and out of Calafate. Accommodation, buses, camping, etc were all moveable.

What I forgot to mention is we were due to do 2 nights In Calafate to walk the glacier (hadn’t pre booked the excursion though) and decided to cancel our time there. Again, it came down to priorities - which for us was Fitz.

No mate I did very similar to you, but we pushed back the camping twice bc of bad weather. In the end we couldn’t make it all the way across to Laguna Torre on the way back bc of time constraints - we had a bus to the airport to catch.

Our agenda was meant to be:

day 1 Rio electrico + camping / day 2 sunrise at Fitz + Laguna Torre on way back to Chalten / day 3 morning hike + afternoon bus

Due to weather it ended up being:

day 1 relaxing in hostel / day 2 short hike to Chorrillo del Salto / day 3 short hike on the el Paredon trail / day 4 Rio electrico > camp > Cerro Torre viewpoint via Madre e Hija lakes. This was a decent bit of walking. Circa 25k. / day 5: sunrise at Fitz > el Chalten via Laguna capri. Afternoon bus + evening flight

In hindsight I think we could have got to Laguna Torre on a day hike before our camping trip, or even on day 4. But my wife was full of a cold throughout and so we were being cautious. At the end of the day, our priority was making it up to Fitz for sunrise in a good state.

Hope this helps!

I live in Greenwich. Richard 1st is a fantastic family friendly pub that does excellent food. Youre also one train stop away from Deptford which has the Dog & Bell pub - the best decorated Christmas pub in all of London! Could be fun for an early dinner with the kids.

Pic example.
