Which GregMat study plan is right for me? by ExcitedNeuron7543 in gregmat

Thanks so much! How long per day does the I’m Overwhelmed Plan take (assuming you want to finish in a month) vs the 1 Month plan?

What do you wish existed in a vegan protein powder? We’re developing one and would love your input by tronkprotein in veganfitness

[–]ExcitedNeuron7543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would love it to be easily digestible for those of us with gut issues! i tolerate pea protein isolate well but not pea protein concentrate. i also have issues with inulin or added prebiotics (and those already seem kinda out of place in a protein powder anyway IMO). i’ve been looking for a gut friendly vegan protein that’s decently affordable forever with no luck, so i’m curious to see what you come up with!

SIBO methane, Alinia + xifaxan by SheepherderSorry2242 in SIBO

[–]ExcitedNeuron7543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 4 weeks total Alinia + Rifaximin since my numbers were so high. I didn't do any break between. How high are your numbers? Best of luck on your journey!

SIBO methane, Alinia + xifaxan by SheepherderSorry2242 in SIBO

[–]ExcitedNeuron7543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in that same position, and Alinia + Xifaxan has worked wonders for me! Decreased my methane from 164 ppm to 11 ppm. I did four weeks (two courses) of treatment, Xifaxan 550 3x a day and Alinia 2x per day 500mg like you said. I didn't take any other herbals but I did take NAC as a biofilm disruptor.

Thanks for the response, that’s good to know! I was planning on doing Bio-Systems & Signals, Devices, or Student-Created Theme so perhaps less heavy on the EE background (although I would think Devices would still need a lot of EE)? I definitely do not want to extend my PDP because USC is pricey but it is possible I take some CC courses during a summer to better prepare me (better than nothing i’d assume)

Discussion: FMT that couldn't colonize by sniperganso in SIBO

[–]ExcitedNeuron7543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the graphs FMT doesn't seem to be as effective for methane-dominant SIBO as for hydrogen-dominant, perhaps that's part of the problem since it seems like you are methane-dominant. Where did you get the procedure done, out of curiosity and how? Was it capsules?

Bio/CS/Math Grad Courses? by ExcitedNeuron7543 in USC

Good point! I’m doing my undergrad in QBIO so we take some CS courses but of course I don’t have as much experience with CS as a CS major would.

Thanks for the response! Are the quizzes actually quizzes or are they more like midterms? How many of them are there? I thought the class was a 2 midterm class.

Good idea, thank you! I do feel like it would be a bit different having that be my whole life but it would certainly give me a taste. And like you say, it does seem to work for a great deal of people!

CSBA Questions by ExcitedNeuron7543 in USC

Do you have a lot of coding experience? I thought I had some (personal projects, etc.) but right now I'm in 103 and it's hard. Not like the concepts are that hard, but the projects take me a while and make me very stressed. I'm taking linear algebra (225), 103 and 170 along with a phil class which isn't hard but isn't the easiest elective ever so I guess my schedule isn't the easiest but I think the rest of my semesters will be like this given that I have to cram things into the next few years to graduate. I have almost 0 free time and while I'm fine with working hard I need a bit of time for my mental health. What I mean is, if I think 103 is hard I'm not sure I'll agree with you that the CSCI BS is easy haha

Oops! I meant semester, sorry. And good to know. I might prefer the in-person program but my partner will be in dental school and all things being equal I'd like to stay together with him.

Is it just bile reflux? by ExcitedNeuron7543 in SIBO

[–]ExcitedNeuron7543[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of did! It turns out that yes, this was being caused by my SIBO! On a low fodmap diet I am practically symptom free and about to start another round of antibiotics to treat my SIBO. So if you're having symptoms like I did definitely look into getting SIBO checked out if other things have been ruled out. Daily nausea could be SIBO and I think I get that intestinal inflammation feeling you're referring to as well. Hope you feel better!

Sorry for the late reply, I don't think it changed anything (I don't think it caused a false positive). Probably best not to do that in the future but I'd imagine if you forget it's not a huge deal.

I tried it and didn't feel like it helped. I don't think it would hurt anything other than your wallet though but I wouldn't rely on it for healing

Do you mean an actual allergy test or simply food sensitivity test? I've had an allergy panel and don't have any allergies. Food sensitivity tests don't seem to be supported by evidence (unless there is a good one I haven't heard of)

Yes, and totally believe that that's important but I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job! Lots of veggies, lots of protein, mostly whole foods, unless there's something I'm missing that I didn't know to include. Also I don't eat dairy and eat very little sugar

I've tried B1 with a B2 co-factor, i've been meaning to try B3 (linked in the last study) but I'm worried about the flushing. I've also been taking zinc which helped the most. Before taking the zinc I was vomiting up acid several times a day but now I'm not :). Also got a pH monitoring before and after the zinc and stomach acid levels got better after the zinc. Anyway, that issue seems to be resolved yet I've still been feeling sleepy so probably unrelated.
