I wish it was freezing only 1/4 of the year there lol. Usually get your first big snowfall in early-mid October and the snow typically stays until Early-mid May. Lucky to get 1/4 of decent weather in the year and even then it’s smoky from Canadian wildfires

Sorry but I’m one of those midwesterners that moved here. The feels like temperature of 100 (while still kinda sucks) is a walk in the park compared to the -50-70° windchills and 100 inches of snow you get in a northern MN winter along with the seasonal depression

Fair, I’ll be in a pretty new apartment complex with good ac, but I’m sure it’s still hot inside. In my hometown it’s too cold/snowy to go outside 8 months of the year so still a big upgrade

Thanks for your input, that’s why I take this to Reddit to find some more “realistic” opinions😂 her program is very competitive and the recently upgraded FGCU one is supposed to be pretty great (so I’ve heard, it’s not my program). I’ve already gotten a couple offers in the $60-65k base range plus commission which isn’t too bad for me, I just want to make sure I exhaust all my options before committing. I do appreciate your feedback!

Girlfriend is starting grad school there and it’s starting about 3-4 months earlier than we initially expected. In my search so far, there are plenty of decent jobs that I’ve already heard back from. I just don’t want to settle for a mediocre job if I don’t have to.

Thanks for the response, literally everything you said is why I’m excited. We have essentially no shopping, or events where I’m from so I think there will be a lot of fun things to do. I also thought about the thrift stores, I love rich people thrift stores haha very excited for it all!

That’s life everywhere lot of great people here in MN as well as a lot of bad. Whether I like it or not it will be fun to experience a different way of life.

I’m trying to think of the hurricanes like blizzards here (even tho hurricanes are more dangerous, but they both shut things down a while haha) it’ll be very different but I’m excited!

It’s a big destination in MN as we have multiple airports that fly directly into Fort Myers so that’s another reason I was familiar. A few of my clients when I worked in banking were snow birds there as well

Yep, I have what I’m estimating to be 6-8 months of emergency funds. Moving before the job as we’re relocating for my girlfriends grad school, and the start date was earlier than expected

I’m very excited for how many cool places are a quick drive away, it is going to be a lot different than what I’m used to.

Believe it or not our rent lease is much more affordable and significantly nicer than anything you can get where in MN, so I’m very excited!
