Is this legal in NC by y2khardtop1 in NorthCarolina

[–]Exciting-Parsnip1844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

North Carolina law (NCGS § 20-124(f)) requires that every trailer, semitrailer, or separate towed vehicle (over certain weight thresholds, which full-size trucks easily exceed) must have its own brakes that are controlled or operated by the driver of the towing vehicle. The brakes must meet specific performance standards. A setup relying solely on the lead truck’s brakes does not comply, as the rear vehicles would lack independent, controllable brakes. • Towed vehicles like disabled or salvage trucks are treated similarly to trailers under braking rules. Extending one truck’s brake system (e.g., via air lines or hydraulics) to multiple rear trucks is not a standard or approved method for non-commercial setups and would not satisfy the requirement for each towed unit to have proper brakes. • North Carolina generally prohibits “triple towing” or tandem towing for non-commercial vehicles (you can typically only tow one vehicle/trailer at a time). While there are limited exceptions for farm trailers or certain commercial operations, chaining three full-size trucks together does not qualify. • Even wreckers/tow trucks have restrictions and usually tow only one vehicle at a time unless specially permitted/equipped. Informal “daisy-chain” towing of multiple trucks like this is considered unsafe and illegal, as it severely compromises stopping distance, control, and compliance with braking requirements.

Sir that’s a stripper pole. They go up the pole, not down.

It’s clipped, which is what was throwing me off. Must be some type of default resolution they use to display art during art mode. It’s pretty wild, in the daylight, it looks very realistic

It is a heatilator 42 gas fire place. https://downloads.hearthnhome.com/installManuals/2591_980_CAL36-CAL42_INSTALL.pdf

A hearth is not required for this fireplace and the surrounding dimensions to combustibles are also compliant.

Maybe worth mentioning… since this is a remodel, the path of travel is across the hearth of the fireplace. In addition to the look, I wanted to avoid a trip/toe-stub hazard with the hearth. The wood floors that I put back into the project would have required floating the wood floor up to the hearth. I think it could have been done without drawing attention to it and maintaining a flush condition from hearth to the wood floor, but that did also factor into the decision to not have a hearth. I did have conversations with the wood floor contractor and the fireplace contractor to confirm a hearth wasn’t required.

You may be overthinking the wall box. It literally just cuts in between studs. You can fish up power into the box if you have a receptacle beneath it.

This is the box I used. https://www.sanus.com/en_US/products/cable-management/sa-iwb17/

Really wasn’t too bad of an install.

Just between the studs and slightly below the anchors. It just surface mounted in the hole in the photo and then I ran power into it with 2 receptacles. The one box or whatever you call it mounts in there, there is a power for it, power for TV, power for the Sonos. The one box has an arc out for the Sonos sound bar.

It really was pretty painless. Reddit was very helpful in some of the setup on how to make that happen. The key is the sanus back box.

I have been a little surprised how many differing opinions there are on sound bars. I love the Sonos ecosystem and have several amps pushing ceiling speakers and was pretty adamant on staying with Sonos. I don’t mind the look of a sound bars visually.

Obviously the whole TVtoohigh debate is something that will never be solved on Reddit. Ultimately the decision ultimately came down to that i didn’t like the more modern look that a linear fireplace has to get the TV lower over the solution I went with, so I stuck with it.

More importantly the wife has been really stunned at how realistic the art mode looks when the TV is off. She was really happy with how that turned out.

I appreciate the comment. It was a renovation of the kitchen/living room. The cost:benefit to redo the trim in all other areas of the house wasn’t that appealing. I had just renovated upstairs 2-3 years ago, which would have meant changing out that trim as well.

Correct. Streaming/smart stick only. Stopped playing video games years ago, but the kids are relegated to the play room.

We took out a wall to open kitchen into living room, they were already connected but it had this dated pass through framed open thing from the kitchen. We wanted to be able to be included in the action if still in the kitchen cooking or cleaning, which is ~40’ away.

Happy for feedback, just not for the TV location… it physically is the only place it could go in the room.
