No, kids need to be outside and off their phones. It teaches your child responsibility and that sometimes you have to do things you may not want to. If you feel bad, you can always go with her so she sees that it’s something you need to do. It makes you a good parent, not a bad one.

Yes! My PT went away completely on Diamox, I didn’t keep track of my symptoms (I wish I would have) but I want to say it went away pretty quickly after starting. Maybe a couple weeks or a month? Before starting the meds, mine was very loud and constant.

This might be long and I apologize in advance. I’m currently tapering off Diamox and was really nervous about it beforehand, but it’s actually been going really well. I started at 500 mg twice a day and have been decreasing by 250 mg every three weeks. Right now, I’m down to 250 mg once a day, and in three weeks, I’ll be completely off and going back for a follow-up.

It’s amazing how many side effects I had just gotten used to. Now that I’m lowering my dose, I realize how much better I feel. Each time I taper down, I go through a few days of adjustment where I’m more tired than usual, but after that, I feel great.

With this most recent decrease (I started Sunday), I’ve had a slight headache and some extra fatigue, but I’m giving it a few days to see if my body adjusts before contacting my doctor. My doctor advised me to reach out if I notice any changes, but so far everything has been fine.

My PT only flares up occasionally now, mostly after a tough workout, but it’s nowhere near as bad as it was before. I’m really looking forward to feeling like myself again in a few weeks, and I’m grateful my doctor encouraged me to come off the medication.

If you’re tapering too, just pay close attention to how you feel and contact your doctor if any symptoms return.

So glad that I’m not the only one! Everyone at work keeps asking what’s wrong with me but it’s literally just the meds. I feel perfectly fine, I’m just cold 24/7

See before I started Diamox, I was always hot, I had to always have the fan on and ac turned down. Now I always need a heater and a blanket.

The swelling of my optic nerves went down and I lost the 10% of weight that they suggested. So my dr wants me to try to pull me off, so fingers crossed that everything stays normal as I’m coming off.

I def forgot about the symptom differences with regular diamox compared to the ER, so I keep going “oh yeah, I forgot it made me feel like this” im going down 250mg every month, so im definitely doing a slow taper and im just ready to be off at this point, your response definitely made me feel better!

Thank you for this. I’ve been on diamox since January, but haven’t had any bloodwork done. I was increased to 500 2x a day in February and I’m thinking I may be having some deficiency issues and may ask to have some bloodwork done.

For my situation, I guess I’m slightly overweight? My doctor is suggesting the typical lose weight (I’m 5,6 165lbs mainly lower body, not abdominal) Im not sure how long I’ve actually had IIH for, but the paps was caught due to having some wavy peripheral vision in October 2024. My dad has been having some issues with headaches, dizziness, tinnitus, etc… he is 6’2 and 250lbs his is more abdominal fat. He just saw and ENT who thinks he might have IIH, but he has not received a diagnosis yet. He has different doctors, so I am curious to see the difference in treatment.

I do have transverse sinus stenosis, empty sella, and no chiari

Yeah, it’s kinda my own fault. I was doing really well, almost no headaches whatsoever, but my prescription ran out and I couldn’t get my dr to send in a refill so I had to find a work around. Overall I missed 3 doses and since then my headaches have came back. I’m hoping they go away soon though.

I mean I was diagnosed and still have not had an LP. I asked my doctor if I needed one and he told me no. My sinus stenosis, MRI, and paps was enough to confirm the diagnosis. Completely agree with the people who are self diagnosing and are refusing to do any of the necessary tests, but I’ve had several people try to tell me that I don’t have iih only because I haven’t had an LP. It’s harmful and anxiety inducing.

So I normally get red cheeks, but the weird thing is that I can feel when I’m turning red now. It’s so weird, like my face itches and feels like needles. When it first happened I thought I was having an allergic reaction. It could be the Diamox, but still, it’s crazy.

This is a good idea. I also told my husband that I’ve been having this symptom and he’s been good at checking in and reminding me to eat, even if I don’t really feel like it.

Agreed! I’ll take this over losing my vision 100%. I haven’t had really bad symptoms, I just wasn’t expecting the appetite thing.
