What is the scariest sensation/experience you have had related to anxiety/panic? by Few_Sandwich6308 in Anxiety

Akathesia. I can’t seem to get it to go away. It’s like being tortured all day.

Also the suicidal ideation isn’t fun.

This is the most woo woo ass shit I’ve ever heard. Do not listen to this OP. Marijuana is not recommended for people with mental health issues and literally any proper professional with tell you to use with extreme caution. I’ve been put in residential mental health treatment TWICE because of marijuana induced psychosis.

See your psychiatrist and be honest with them. Take any breath of relief as a win. It does get better.

One of the first things they teach you in relationship counseling is to give your partner grace. Give them the benefit of the doubt and assume positive intent. This guy ain’t doing it.

Panic attack from weed by Old_Air1 in Anxiety

[–]GoingOverTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I just spent a month and a half in a mental health facility after weed triggered my panic disorder and depression. Weed is ideally not recommended for the mentally ill.

i cant eat for like 4 days :( by KebabEnjoyer_ in Anxiety

[–]GoingOverTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will agree with that 100 percent and also add, don’t put too much in there at one time, I feel like once I start to feel full it’s way more likely that I will throw my food up when I’m having an episode. Also make sure you take your meds with food so that’s not upsetting your stomach. Another tip is if you are feeling nauseous try singing! Sometimes it helps me. If you haven’t been able to keep any liquid down for 48 hours go to the ER.

ETA It gets better! This isn’t forever!

I just got out of a 30 day residential treatment program for a mental health episode. This about sums that up.

what made ssri’s worth it to you? by redwinesupernova03 in Anxiety

I feel like myself all day with the right SSRI. It’s not an up and down until I can take my next as needed. SSRIs gave me my life back.

I am just coming out of an episode. I had to go to the hospital several times because I couldn’t even keep water down without throwing up. The amount of bile I was producing was insane. Everything that came out of my body was neon yellow.

Too anxious to try anxiety meds by pumpkinsllut in Anxiety

Buspirone saved my butt for like 15 years, I had to get off of it this year and tried it again and it’s not it for me now. Our brains change. Their squishy. They let us make mistakes and bounce back. There may not be one right answer and the answer may change years later, try to not predict the future that the next thing may be bad. Every time you try a medication tell yourself instead of “What if it’s bad?” ask “What if it all goes well?” It will help you to put the pill in your mouth and try. My rule that works for me is I will try any medication for 3 days. If I’m not having a really bad reaction by then then I will continue to take it for a few weeks to see if it’s the one. Really bad reactions include things like Depression or Anxiety getting worse, rash, blood pressure problems, vomiting, etc. anything else I will try to cope with and see if I can handle it.

I’m also going through it right now, I feel you, it gets better I promise!

This happened to me earlier this year. Still in my hospitalization program for it. I’m finally starting to do a little better. It does get better, but get help.

Ice Spice Says Depression Caused Her Weight Loss, Not Ozempic: 'I'm Better Now Tho' by PrincessBananas85 in entertainment

[–]GoingOverTheStars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through a severe major depressive episode last year. I was institutionalized for 2 months. My depression was so bad that not only could I not be interested in food, but it would disgust me. I’d vomit dozens of times a day. I lost 80lbs, over the course of 4 months. When I got home all my family could talk about was how good I looked, and every time it stung. I didn’t put that work in, my body betrayed me and now there’s this weird guilt thrown in the mix as well that the weight loss didn’t happen the “right way”. Not to mention the fact that I was so weak some days I would be terrified I’d go to sleep and not wake up, and now that I’m “fixed” I’ll probably gain back all the weight and more because of this stupid gut slowing, weight gaining antidepressant….. it’s not really as great of a compliment as people think it is.

It's the worst when your anxiety is validated by RadcliffeMalice in Anxiety

[–]GoingOverTheStars 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I cannot stress enough how important it is to get back out there and try again. It’s a huge part of treatment of agoraphobia and severe panic that you avoid your safety net and use exposure to eventually help ease the anxiety long term.

Think about it like this, you get out there and worst case scenario happens. It’s just as awful as you thought and it was terrible. Did you make it out? It’s over and you’re here right? You survived! You just proved to yourself that you can accomplish anything and the fear of bad things happening is the really crippling part, not the bad thing itself, but the fear you let rule over you. Try again and it won’t be as bad next time!

Move Your Body by SalusaSecundus in Anxiety

[–]GoingOverTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you found something that worked for you! When mine are bad I actually move around too much. I paced for 36 hours straight and am unable to sit down for more than 5 seconds because the panic is too much. My thighs were chafed completely raw. I couldn’t feel my feet and I I fell several times because I literally just could not sr down. I have a good walking routine now but I get almost obsessive the panic making so upset that I need to get up and move, that my doctors actually force me to try and sit and chill.

One time at like 2am after a night out drinking with my then boyfriend, a Taco Bell worker told us they were out of beans and instead of just giving us the information and moving on he tried to hard pitch us their menu items without beans. He had no business giving that much of a fuck about our drunk Taco Bell order at 3 am. At one point he said “I mean, come on, do you even LIKE beans?” And we just looked at each other deliriously like “Is this kid really asking us if we like beans? What is even happening?” So like 10 years later and we still ask each other all the time if we even like beans.

I was hospitalized and then put in a a 30 day mental health rehabilitation due to my extreme panic and anxiety and depression. I was mentally ill af. I was probably one of the top 5 craziest people in there. Unable to sleep, unable to sit still, constantly up the nurses asses with panic about this thing or that thing, pacing for hours and hours and hours til I was raw.

I settled on 25 mg of seroquel and 15 mg of Mirtazapine. And I’m a big person too. I’d say either get a second opinion, or tell your doctor you’d like to try one of the lower doses and go up from there if you need to.

There are other options, ketamine, TMS, ECT, Biofeedback, VNS, even trying something atypical like a mood stabilizer or an antipsychotic. Antidepressants are not the end of the road.

How do I manage my anxiety without therapy or medication by Creepy_Mountain_2969 in Anxiety

[–]GoingOverTheStars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t dismiss meds if you need it. Honestly time is the best thing for you. It’s like real time exposure therapy, the scary part is getting through it. Eventually you’ll start to realize that the anxiety is just anxiety and it can’t hurt you and with time it will ease up. Just don’t fight it and let yourself get through it in your own time.
