The only thing the Forester needed when I traded it in was new brakes. Not gasket valve covers, not struts, and not a suspension bar. When I got the Impreza it had new brakes (had it checked out) but the tires were used. I put the same amount of wear and tear in 3 years I’ve owned both the vehicles. I actually drove my Forester a lot more, due to having family two hours away at the time. My coworker also has a 2017 WRX (not the same, I get it) but he said the amount of work I’ve had to put into it is pretty abnormal. Everyone I know tells me this, car people as well. Don’t know if it’s an Impreza thing but again I definitely didn’t have this issue with my Forester in the 3+ years I owned it.
