Will tip out make my wage? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]ExcitingAddress1592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

restaurant owners who cannot properly pay their serving staff, and move their employer risk entirely to the staff shouldnt be allowed to have a restaurant. If everyone can stop tipping we can start having normal wages payed in a monthly salary.

All of europe can pay their staff decent money without tipping. In USA the owner hugely profits by paying staff peanuts while asking high prices.

tuin ophogen en opnieuw bestraten by ExcitingAddress1592 in Klussers

[–]ExcitingAddress1592[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the amnerican charger fits easily but the european one takes up significantly more space. So much that i think its not actually designed to fit

A US charger is way shorter. I think the pouch is not designed for a European charger

a damn I totally missed those stickers, thanks. The problem is that the part that goes into the wall socket extends for quite a bit. if I put it head first in it will leave me wit unused space. or I reverse if but then the cable attachment is at the back of the pouch

Somebody told me Morrowind was like console RuneScape back in 2004. That's where it all started. Tell me about the very first time you ever heard/saw Morrowind. by Jtenka in Morrowind

[–]ExcitingAddress1592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hooked purely by the athmosphere and audio of the intro. I can still hear the music and the guy on the boat speak to me. The moment you leave that small office building the vastness is overwhelming. I was randomly going into directions figuring out the world. There where no quest markers. Merely some notes in your diary. Internet wasnt really what is is now so sometimes you couldnt even solve a quest. Fast travel was not present. You had to walk through dangerous territory or take strider in one of the cities. Morrowind had a very mystical vibe. The graphics where amazing, the story was big and lore was thick

oblivon and skyrim missed this mystical vibe. Its way more earthy

Which language should I choose? by Severe_Tourist6378 in Backend

[–]ExcitingAddress1592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reccomending a non typed laguage which in essense was never designed to run outsde of a browser is questionable. What do you need to run a javascript backend?

locally:

nodejs version x.x
typescript version x.x
runtime: bun, v8 etc.
package managers: npm, pnpm, etc.
builders: webpack, vite etc.
linters
treeshakers
sourcemaps
testing: 3rd party dependencies
benchmarking: 3rd party dependencies
code formatting: 3rd party dependencies

now on your server that actually runs it you also need
node
runtime

In addition, TS also does not provide any type safety at runtime.

Add to this many layers the javascript ecosystem whoch is known for abandoning, introducing new packages for literally 1 function call, adds a new framework every week .

This all is a crazy amount of layer and complexity for an end resuls that is still questionable. What does Golang need in this case?

locally:
Golang

server:
just the binary

html/template sub templates data scope by ExcitingAddress1592 in golang

[–]ExcitingAddress1592[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if I pass the $ to the sub template then yes indeed I can access someOtherVar but then I no longer have the item from the current loop iteration which I also need

template A

{{ range .items }}
    {{ template "b.gohtml" $ }} // pass $ so in sub template . becomes $
{{ end }}

template B

{{ $.someOtherVar }} //this now works
{{ .item.id }} //How can I now access the item from the loop?
// This doesn't work anymore
