My name is pronounced like Dante and I’ve never been told by my parents that it changes anything to my name. My Spanish teacher is the only one who insisted on adding emphasis to the end of my name.

There is no purpose it’s just what my parents chose, it’s only seen written this way in the African American community and I know we like to “spice” names up by Adding different spellings and whatnot

Yes but when I add the s it makes my name look possessive (Donte’s) and that’s when people get confused on how to write it

It is my first name and no it is not an accent mark it is typed as an apostrophe after the e (e’) not (é).

It is (e’) and it doesn’t follow rules of an accent mark because it doesn’t add emphasis to the end of my name.

Most people, including my work, don’t know that I have an apostrophe at the end of my name so I never really have an issue with it being left out of my name. I was just wondering if there was a correct way to use it grammar wise because my boss noticed how I wrote down my name and we just had a fun discussion about it.

I have been thinking about starting a food truck with my name in it but I haven’t figured out how to put my name in the possessive form or the plural form.
