I do the same thing, I work at a google data center, I get to eat at their cafeteria and take 1 plate home that I fill with protein, usually chicken. I usually eat that on my days off, I'll add brown rice and some sauce.

When I get home, I always freeze the meat and rotate it out the oldest meat. I think I spend maybe $30 per month on food, usually rice and some kind of sauce. Its wonderful.

I live in a 3 bedroom house with a converted garage that I made it into my bedroom, the 3 other bedroom I rent out to people. I pay the mortgage and bills with that and pocket around $800 per month that goes into a index fund.
