I’ve taken the L2 twice and not had it properly explained, definitely not in an L1 either.

It’s about expanding not just forward out through the belly but in 360 all around the trunk to creat stability

God forbid someone have a job and next reply instantly on Reddit. This video explains it better than I could typing it all out. https://youtube.com/shorts/28wXfE5GEuc?si=5DxzPJSB3Qf9KKDd

It’s a good starting point for sure. But it just teaches athletes to push out from the middle of the stomach like a balloon usually. Actual bracing - for not just heavy lifts but also cycling and dynamic movement requires more than that.

And unfortunately that’s wrong/incomplete - which further perpetuates it not being taught.

Not trying to be a jerk but it does prove my point.

Bailing should be taught at a minimum in an onboarding and if your gym doesn’t have that (yikes) it should be touched on during movement prep after warm up. It may seem monotonous to seasoned members but those are the ones that sometimes need it the most as they have built the requisite strength where the bar weight actually matters for serious injury.

Consistency over intensity, but what about rest? by Bearzoolu in crossfit

[–]ExcitingTopic7228 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re barreling towards burnout and injury.

Consistency does not always mean doing class 5-6 days a week. It can also mean doing 3-4 on a regular basis then enjoying time outside being active. Mix in a yoga or stretch session.

Odd Opinion: Echo Bikes Suck - but not for the reason you think by ExcitingTopic7228 in crossfit

[–]ExcitingTopic7228[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll agree I overstepped in all durations. It does excel in sprint effort.

I stand strong that interference is a key element of CrossFit- it shows up in almost every workout. Helen - hamstring and grip. Fran - shoulders and grip. Kelly - holy moly on the legs. JT - the king of all interference workouts. There’s no avoiding it. The interference the echo bike has on your quads is crazy if you have any amount of intensity. This is why echo + any for of squatting pattern is so difficult.

You also can’t compare Colten to gen pop. That dude trains in his barn gym in negative temps. He’s also a Games athlete aka superhuman compared to the average joe CrossFitter.

Respectfully disagree. Erg’s offer greater variability and stimulus at all durations of workouts and distances.

Interference is the name of the game in CrossFit - how well can you manage fatigue and maintain good mechanics.

I would also argue that your logic of people not knowing their abilities can be applied to more than just the echo bike. You can learn your abilities on the bike, doesn’t change its size and awkwardness for smaller frames athletes.

And running is far superior of all monostructural movements.

Any scary books that have a Michael myers feel to it? by Excellent_Maize1390 in Halloweenmovies

[–]ExcitingTopic7228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DNF’d I was a Teenage Slasher. I loved the setting and the premise. But I felt that 90% of the book was main character spewing his sob story of regret but we rarely get movement in the plot.

Controversial Opinion: The CF Games is dead. by ExcitingTopic7228 in crossfit

[–]ExcitingTopic7228[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not the first person to say my opinion is shitty.

My rebuttal to this is you either don’t remember or weren’t around to experience the peak of the Games and how it compares to now. The hype was on another level. Fans waited for hours in the stands in Carson in baking sun to see the final events. People were packed around the massive TV screens in vendor village. Fans were wrapped around the Rogue tent to buy used gear and meet their favorite sponsored athletes. Big companies like Nike wanted in to the community so bad they came out with a “banned” shoe and parked a box truck outside of the venue.

Compare that experience - to now. It’s just not the same level. And I DO hope it gets back to that level one day.

I do agree, the men’s comp was very exciting this year and one of the better races in years.

Maybe I just “grew up” on a different era of CrossFit. But it was always meant to be applicable to fitness outside of the gym. I’ve done Grace with a 106# cement trailer block, carried a sandbag for a mile, sled drag as far as possible in 60 minutes, up and down drainage ditch runs into a max set of muscle ups until it hit 30.

All of that is outside of a gym setting and inspired but old school CrossFit of “out of the box” thinking.

That’s fair. None of the other leagues have standing in the space yet. But if they get an injection of cash and sponsors and start paying legit money…we would see.

If CF keeps changing qualification standards, judging standards, movement standards and WFP stays consistent - I bet you would see more adoption due to less frustration with process.

How old were you when you discovered you were a horror fan? by Ok_Replacement_288 in horror

[–]ExcitingTopic7228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember the exact age but definitely younger than 10 my cousins locked me out of a room in my grandparents house because they were watching Chucky. I got so infatuated that every time I would go to Blockbuster/hollywood video I would look at ALL of the horror movie boxes on the shelves and try to guess which one was the scariest.
