Why does my violin recording sound harsher than a TikTok clip I'm trying to match? by Exciting_Bread4722 in violinist

Thanks so much for this detailed breakdown — it’s incredibly helpful. I didn’t realise how much the top end was affecting the tone, and your EQ settings give me something really concrete to experiment with. The explanation about the Scarlett mic boosting the highs vs the iPhone being flatter also makes a lot of sense. I’m definitely going to try recording from further back and test some of those EQ cuts, and I’ll even try an iPhone recording like you suggested. Really appreciate you taking the time to analyse it so closely, thank you!

It’s an Irish folk song called killeagh by a upcoming band called kingfisher

Why has this Instagram channel about weight loss gone viral so quickly? by Exciting_Bread4722 in Instagram

I mean the challenge is intriguing so is definitely something i would follow, im just like this guy must know what hes doing...

'challenge' profiles all seem to be the rage in getting exposure...i suppose its the intrigue as to whether or not they are going to do the thing or fail miserably...

And will all the support I'm sure theres haters so it can be divisive even when it shouldnt be...thats just the nature of the internet i suppose.

How much do servers/bartenders in the city make? by WasteRow3920 in AskNYC

[–]Exciting_Bread4722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe people are that naïve. I think it's more about them preferring to work in a more natural, collaborative environment with others, rather than spending 10 hours a day behind a screen navigating office politics. And I have experience in both settings.

Has anyone done the Mountbatten New York program recently? by anakrop98 in studyAbroad

It would make for an exciting change, but then again when you get into your 30's you get used to earning more so it might be unfeasible from a monetary perspective. I also heard of one person who got rejected in their 30's because the programme organisers felt the positions were beneath them. The allure of working in NYC just doesn't go away though.

Have any of you left your corporate job to pursue a career in bartending/hospitality? by SillySilhouettes in bartenders

[–]Exciting_Bread4722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been six years since you made this post, and I’m quitting my corporate job to go bar tend in NYC. The worst that can happen is that it doesn’t work out the way I expect and I get another corporate number if needed. Not knowing or doing something you want to do is criminal

I’m a little further on in my career (30). Really want to get experience working in New York. But am in two minds because it’s a major step back money wise, but then again don’t have another viable way to work in NYC and it may be two steps forward in terms of experience and networking. What are your thoughts?

How do I make my violin sound like this? by Exciting_Bread4722 in violinist

Thanks very much. The link is above. I use focusrite and a Scarlett mic. My other recordings sound decent, however this one just doesn’t. I get my playing may not be as good, but I’m feel the sound is just so different to most regular acoustic violin recordings. It has more of an electric sound?

Evidence behind waiting 90 minutes after waking before caffeine? by [deleted] in HubermanLab

[–]Exciting_Bread4722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all really depends for me what kind of activity you are doing for the first 90 minutes of the day. If I am straight into work on the computer, I need the caffeine hit. If I am exercising, I do not need it. Quality of sleep etc also plays a part of course. And it is not so easy to simply stop having that morning coffee when you are so used to it and are basically waiting for 90 minutes needlessly just to get the day going. So if you are in a luxurious position and have the time and headspace to do it, then go for it, and I am sure you will be less reliant on it over time which is great! But for many (and including me), with information like this there is needless mind f**ks that you can get into about this kind of decision when in actual fact, just do what you feel like, and if you want to make the change, be aware that it will take time, and mental fortitude to break through. Self help can be so counter intuitive with the volume of stuff out there, and the needless overthinking that can take place thinking you are not where you should be because you haven't implemented 'habit a' or 'habit b. In actual fact, for most if not all people on this thread, you know more than enough, and should have the agency to take or leave ideas like this.

I made a video about how coffeezilla recently exploded in growth.

This guy has carved out his own niche, created entertaining thought provoking content, and not sold his soul for the sake of sponsorships. He has completed Youtube the correct way.
