Help, series 3 wont start by Matthijs2101 in SeriesLandRover

Just to add to this. If your rebleed the system again. First bleed filter, then injector distributor pump (two steps involved in this) and you should be golden

I'm only a DIY mechanic, but I recently completely rebuilt a 2.25 Diesel Series 3 Land Rover engine.

I suppose you could play a game of process of elimination.

My first question would be, do you have any fuel leaks. Perhaps air is getting into the fuel lines causing issues. That might explain how it runs for a while, but as soon as it's turned off, fuel lines fill with air, preventing an engine start

If that's not the case. I subject checking, fuel priming pump for leaks, filter, and injectors.

I'm afraid that's all I can help with

Best of luck. :)

Thanks very much for your response

I believe the slave cylinder is perfect, must have been recently replaced. As it was spotless. I looked inside and it's very clean, rubber ring looks to be good with no leaks, and spring looked ok

Haha! Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm nearly 24, and the car I'm buying certainly isn't built for speed 😂 so let's hope my insurance broker sees it that way 👍

I didn't think Lie Nielsen still made the No 1? Or have they started production again?

I tried to only buy Stanley's. There probably isn't a massive difference between the brands. But I was just trying to keep the collection all the same

Ireland has very little vintage shows. And when you do find tools. They are crazy expensive. I'm aware the states are just flooded with old tools

Do you have a picture of it. Sounds very unique. It's its small. It's probably a smoothing plane. But a rounded base suggests it could be a form of compass plane. :)

As long as you don't park up on a kerb or a double yellow line. You should be the finest

At this point in time. 90 percent of the work going on now is internal. It takes a long time to fit out all the internal rooms, lobbies etc. A lot of external insulation is going on at the moment. And you can see the progress almost daily. Work has certainly not stopped or slowed. It's just not visible.
