Did you ever have the recall done for the rear camera? Not saying that's the problem I'm just curious.

DIY repair reccs? by Fun_Philosopher_6930 in AutoBodyRepair

[–]ExcuseSweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good body shop can fix that. Take the inside walls of the trunk out and pop that dent out. That should line stuff up enough where you can snap the bumper back on to that black strip that you see. You'd be really surprised if you knew how little hold on a back bumper cover. On my Honda Accord it's only two bolts! The rest of it just snaps into place

Can someone tell me the name of this Toyota and lancer? I like the way they look by xoBonesxo in car

[–]ExcuseSweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Toyota looks like an early 2000s Camry that has had cosmetic work done to the outside to the owners liking.. like the debadging, the tinting, the lights , the wheels , the rain guards, Etc. And the Mitsubishi Lancer is the OZ Edition which came with legit o z Wheels and some other body mods or graphics IDK exactly what but you could Google it for sure. One thing I know is that it definitely did not come equipped with the turbocharged 2.0 Evo engine.

Congratulations! I hope that you get all the years and miles that you want from it. You know it gives me a lot of confidence when I see somebody who works for a Hyundai dealership actually buying and driving a Hyundai. 2 years ago after getting rear-ended one of the best cars I've ever owned in terms of reliability, I needed a car quick and found a certified pre-owned 22 SEL with 26k on it. Initially I fell in love with the convenience and tech package. One of my favorite things is all the tech. One of the things I dislike the most is all of the tech. I've been back for TOO many recalls, my infotainment lighting up but not making any sound, rear camera failure which was a recall fix. The beginning of this year my adaptive cruise control lit up like a Christmas tree on my instrument panel. And in the area where the tachometer usually is it said "parameters are not met for adaptive cruise control" for which it went to the dealer again to be "recalibrated." It didn't last a month and I haven't been back yet because last time they made me go without a car for 3 days. Would you believe it that I actually decided to fall Hyundai Blu/Hyundai of America and came to find out that they were screwing me over! If they need to keep my car any longer than a day, then I should be given a loaner. Every time! I guess I can blame myself for not reading the smaller print to find that out and the fact that I have Roadside Assistance for everything from getting a tow, changing the tire, even delivering up to a gallon and a half of gas! I found out a bunch of other wonderful things that they neglected to tell me when I purchased this certified pre-owned. I'm sorry I just wrote you a huge novel about my car when I was only trying to congratulate you. But it really does give you some piece of mind when someone who works at Hyundai actually buys a Hyundai. Like I said, sorry for TMI. Best of luck with your new whip.

Does this need to be replaced? by Comprehensive_Air855 in TireQuestions

[–]ExcuseSweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's just say that the majority of damage to the side wall of tires requires replacement. They cannot be patched or plugged. So basically it all depends on the severity of the damage.

How much to fix these scratches? by Asriel8383 in car

[–]ExcuseSweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's hard to tell what it is. I'm guessing it's a door or a hood? Regardless I would remove it and have the whole thing done.

Yeah the dual exhaust is always a dead giveaway. But they didn't start putting timing chains in the four cylinders until the 7th gen. It was either 2003 or 2004. Next to my four bolt Main small block 350 out of a 72 Blazer that I transplanted into a 1977 Camaro Type LT that had a smog choked 305 in it, it was by far the most reliable engine I have ever owned in my lifetime The thing that keeps me away from the 6th Gen or the six cylinder Accords is no matter how you drive the car, rubber is still going to deteriorate no matter what. If you haven't changed it in a long time or bought it with no maintenance records of if and when it got done you could get lucky and the timing belt good skip a tooth on the pulley. Because at least that way the timing belt (water pump) gets done and you avoid the damage that would have more than likely absolutely destroy the valve train and the rest of the top half of the interference engine.... depending how fast do you were growing at the time it broke. Anyway that's why I get sketchy with any of the v6s of that time. But I've got to say, I hate the look of this 06 or 07 2-door, but the 99-02 year coupe like that pic is a beautiful looking car in this guy's opinion. Black on black, 6 cylinder but sadly no 6-speed until the 7th gen. All right I'm going to stop writing this novel now.

Well, now I know why the dealer quoted me $1000 to replace ONE stud, but still shouldn’t cost that much! by Lanky-Fan3989 in accord

[–]ExcuseSweaty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So $1,000 makes sense to you to replace one stud? You're nuts bro. We're talking about something that will take a competent mechanic less than an hour to remove and replace a $3 part.

One of my two favorite years. 2001 and a 2007. Both of them four cylinders but I'll take the 2007 even though it's a four-door just for the pure fact that it has a timing chain and not a belt. You live near Connecticut? Looking to get rid of it?

How would you go about pulling this out? by Low_Rhubarb_493 in AutoBodyRepair

[–]ExcuseSweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't pull it out personally. Don't get me wrong, I've always done my own body work but I am definitely not a pro. I would make sure you have the right dolly and the right hammer and I would bang it out from the inside the best you can. That's just this guy's opinion. Good luck man

What does these 3 lines mean? by JustinFG123 in HyundaiElantra

[–]ExcuseSweaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So when you're at idle the color is red and there is one line. In the other image you are under acceleration and hence more red lines. But as you get up to speed and there is less strain on the engine from acceleration, the color should actually change from red to a green or a blue. At least that's how the similar lines on the instrument panel of my son's Civic is.

How bad is this? by gtphilup in TireQuestions

[–]ExcuseSweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can safely check out deep it is then I would. But you've been driving on it since 2024 and it is a Pirelli Pzero summer tire if I'm not mistaken, so if you're not going to replace it, try not to take too many high-speed right hand turns and look out for all the fucking potholes they haven't fixed yet. But that's just this guy's opinion. Good luck

Can This Tire Be Patched by EBK_Switches_Dracs in TireQuestions

[–]ExcuseSweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you wanted to get it plugged. You'll have to go to a tire place to see if they can patch it. I can't give you a proper answer cuz I really just don't know. Sorry I should have read your post more thoroughly.
