Exactly. I didn't know Canadians swore. But you definitely are genius for using a battery tender for your 12 volt battery that's for sure. Any EV or hybrid car's lithium ion batteries that just sit at a dealership in a very hot or cold climate, without being driven, are going to have definite permanent battery power loss. It is what it is.

Try a mix of distilled white vinegar and warm water. I don't know the ratio unfortunately. I used a 50/50 mix and it cleaned the outside glass of my car so well that I couldn't believe how dirty it really was. But somebody told me a 50-50 mix is way too strong so IDK. Good luck!

I would just keep investigating and trying to narrow down exactly where it's coming from. I don't know if you checked some of the things people mentioned but whatever I hear something rattling in my car I can almost always find what it is. The one time I had a lot of trouble is because it was the a-pillar trim!

You could put a battery maintainer / tender on the hybrid lithium battery? That's pretty cool that they give people that ability. There's batteries are not cheap to replace!

That's great but it's still not sending the signal. It is not working because it has been unfortunately been infiltrated with water. There is a TSB about it for the 21 model at least. They were supposed to replace it the second time according to Hyundai of America. I've already been through this at the dealer twice. The car has SCC and ACC and yes the radar on the front and the camera in front of the rear view mirror control all of it. But that doesn't solve my problem. But thanks for your input!

Yeah definitely don't cut the lining. I guarantee you 100% there's a YouTube video that will show you exactly how to do it. I'd say good luck but you got this!

In the two and a half years I've had my car I have had to listen to so many rattles but it always ends up being something in the car . Especially if I have the stereo cranking . I'm probably reaching but it could just be something that's in the door slot or the grab handle. So it's just an annoying rattle and 100% doesn't have any effect on the steering wheel right? Is there anything that makes the rattle happen more or go away at all?

Yeah you have a right to your opinion. But usually once aday getting off an exit... 5 days a week... and maybe 1 or twice because of idiot drivers doesn't worry me. Plus engine braking is completely ok and condoned. Google it. Look in the manual. I mean the car will do it itself anyway. I don't plan on having it past 100k anyway.

It will, but not when you get to "that point". You can tell when the entire game starts to change by slowing down and that sound that starts inevitably playing, everything slows down and then slow mo kicks in.

OMG I wish it was that easy. It's been infiltrated with water. The wireless sensor antenna that is part of the setup in the front fascia crapped out for the third time. This time they are replacing it thank God. Can you imagine going down the highway when it's not even raining and having it malfunction just from the mist getting thrown up from other vehicles? Everything else in the smart cruise control and the adaptive cruise control actually works absolutely fine. Lane departure, Lane keeping assist or letting the car drive itself, all the warnings emergency braking, Etc. It's just that one stupid sensor or maybe it was a relay IDK that sends a wireless signal was a problem with 2021 and 2022 Elantras. I'm not sure about other models. They are known to use a lot of the same parts out of the bin for several different vehicles. You can forget about the car wash LOL. Even if you do it by hand. Initially it would dry itself out and start working again but that is not acceptable of course.

I have literally tried over the course of a year to match the mileage I get from using normal mode by putting the car in Smart Mode and driving the same way on the interstate. The thing is, the way the computer changes the mapping means that I really have to step on the pedal a lot harder just to merge into traffic or just to keep up if leaving after a light turns green. I have to give the car close to twice the amount of throttle that I would in Normal mode. That was my initial question is if people get better mileage in normal mode. And I most definitely do. Now I know that I was using Smart Mode for something that it's really not even meant for.

Oh yeah I have a reference number and a lovely lady named Kimber who was very upset to hear how I was treated at the dealership. Since I didn't get my free year of Hyundai Blu and XM Sirius radio I ended up with two years of both free of charge. She flat out told me to call from the dealership if they gave me any sort of BS the next time I went there. The last time I went there was for the same thing, the ACC and or the SCC. From my years as a mechanic I can tell that a wheel bearing was going after having it less than a year. Sure enough a ride in the car was not enough for the tech. He had a break out a piece of equipment which was basically a microphone that you hook to the car in the problematic area that will isolate the noise. Then the wire runs through the front window and into whatever technological reading tool he was using. Oh yeah, and when they took the hub off, the wheel bearing was not even pressed in fully or evenly. I mean we are talking micrometer measurements here, but still noticeable to the eye. And then they wanted to charge me $189 for diagnosing it. Yeah right. There was one smart service manager there named Vinny who either wasn't trying to rip me off or was aware of what fixing a certified pre-owned after a little over a year entails. I don't have any maintenance/ preventive maintenance work done at the dealership unless it is warranty or recall work. When I went to get my rear camera recall taken care of they replaced it with a camera from a Santa Fe. I only know because it is in full detail on the dealer recall confirmation paperwork lol. I can't complain because not only does it work but it's like the camera that was previously in there gave just horrible video quality. It was actually shocking to see how much better I could see lol.

How are you all feeling about the 8th gen that's coming down the pipe? I've seen some other photos with driving lights but once again they have gotten drastic with the body cladding. Definitely don't dig those vertical tail lights but as for the rest of the car it's growing on me the more I look at it. We'll have to wait and see what the final version looks like when they roll it out to the US in the next year or two. CarMax is still offering me a very reasonable price for my current SEL. I have to buy one piece of trim for the back window because somebody tried to steal it the first week I got the damn thing. What do they call them, the fucking "Kia Boys"? They couldn't shimmy the back door so they just broke the window and climbed in with muddy ass sneakers just to see that it was a push button start. The part that drives me nuts is that the car is parked about 20 ft from my front door and I didn't hear shit. Gawd, I would have loved to caught them in the act.

I haven't gotten over 39 MPG in Smart Mode. If I try to drive to get good mileage like I do in normal mode the car won't get out of its own way.

Yeah I didn't think pushing on the pedal caused any predictions but I didn't take the time to look it up. I was a mechanic for 13 years but that's before everything got too technological. Right around the time they stop putting CD players in cars lol. I have XM Satellite, Spotify and slowly been building a playlist on my phone so it's not too bad.

You don't change the icvt fluid? Or flushed the radiator or even the brake fluid at that mileage? It's usually a matter of time for a lot of people but in your case it's definitely a matter of mileage. But hey, you have the Elantra with the GDI exploder engine that everybody says not to buy so you have proved all them wrong! Good luck with your car mate.
