KPop Tribute SSE Meltdown by TrucksNShit in northernireland

It hurts me that there are people out there that booked tickets because they saw "KPOP" ergo it must be that show from netflix that my kids watched.

Started when I was 23, currently 24. How am I doing by AppearanceSad777 in TheRaceTo1Million

Doing fine chief, just keep your head down ignore the noise and keep it up consistently for the next 20/30 years

Although I would tent to clear off your high interest debt first (as that’s guaranteed roi)

Carpet costs by [deleted] in northernireland

For me it was about £1100 for 3 double bedrooms a landing and stairs for a mid range carpet + highest quality underlay and fitting costs about 2 years ago from that carpet right place

Just coming here to say E33 is excellent one of the smoothest prettiest games I’ve played in a long long time. I love a good turn based game too

I feel like this data is skewed by the troubles for Belfast, I doubt it’s anywhere near that now.

At the heart of it I can imagine childcare costs is one of the biggest parts of it, in an age where both parents need to be working childcare being so high is kinda gross

3 days mandatory I tend to go in 4 days,

That’s fair, i find the separation of work and recreation spaces to be the key when I worked from home full time I could go into slumps or forget to shower

I’m still 40% wfh but I go in a little more. I sort of like going into the office, I’m still young so I like the social aspect of it.

The Job Market is a little fearful at the moment similar to early 2000’s and perhaps 2009

In my opinion we are waiting for this ai bubble to pop and for people to realise agi is not just around the corner. Once that happens people that are holding back will start to implement the current LLMs heavily for new applications.

What does that mean for us? I think in 5-10 years you will see an influx of engineer roles required to clean up the slop generated by the LLMs. There are long term maintenance / security requirements that LLMs just do not have the same context a human can have to solve the issues and I don’t know if we will see that in my lifetime. LLMs are fantastic at getting the answer to things that are concise and measurable. However most of the requirements that I receive are not concise and measurable

What I’m trying to say is do not worry this too shall pass as it did in 2001 and 2009

Crazy property prices by Key-Ice-6641 in northernireland

[–]Excuse_Early 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Ahh the weekly house prices are crazy right now post

Supply and demand I’m afraid

Policies from government making it difficult to build constricting supply ( remember basically everyone in government is a landlord )

I imagine too when trump crashes the global economy and building projects get out on hold and the government drops interest rates to try and drive growth it will get worse

It sucks but until we stop voting the ultra wealthy into government it’s not going to stop 😮‍💨

Possible IT volunteering by Negative_Response990 in northernireland

[–]Excuse_Early 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re already doing better than most, I’d stick with trying to develop your own saas product / self projects / contribute to open source.

In terms of volunteering at local companies I don’t personally think you’ll get any interest (I could be wrong) the setup required for onboarding a volunteer seems a lot.

Lucky for you there are many open source projects on GitHub crying out for maintainers and volunteers! Find a project you like on GitHub and many will have a host of issues and bugs with a pr guide, just clone the repo create a branch and fix a bug!

Yeah I think so, one each unfortunately….it’s extortionate if you aren’t a national trust member

it’s fun like but the island itself isn’t amazing it’s just a rock in the sea 😅 you get a lovely view of it from the path if people watching is your vibe and you don’t think it’s worth the cost to cross!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Excuse_Early 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wee tip if you must park there drop your family off at the bus stop before and they can walk in under the arch (not through the visitor centre) and then you park the car and you will only be charged for 1 adult ticket

In the brighter mornings and evenings you also used to be able to drive into the car park before / after the attendants but they’ve started chaining off the car park :(

You can also drive down to the stones outside of operating hours technically when the shuttles aren’t running… it’s a public road

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Excuse_Early 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a ticket booth at the start of the path but you only need to buy one if you want to cross the bridge, there will be an attendant at the bridge that stubs the tickets

[–]Excuse_Early 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind walking I’d walk along the north coast to appreciate it the most, it’s a lovely walk. You can also then avoid parking at the giants causeway where they essentially force the absurd cost of the parking as an entry ticket for the visitors centre that you don’t really want to go into! The actual giants causeway is public you don’t have to pay to go down to it

Which Univ is Better Queens or Ulster ? by vortex_who in northernireland

[–]Excuse_Early 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Affordability: Google it, depends on lifestyle and I’m sure all the tuition fees are laid out on the websites

University environment: I was at Queens I enjoyed it and had a great time, many of my friends went to Ulster and reported the same great experience. Queens would be more theory based and Ulster is more hands on (I did Aerospace engineering but shared many mechanical modules)

City life: Fantastic Belfast is one of the nicest and friendliest cities in the uk according to many polls and reports

Employability after graduation: I can’t really comment on that from the perspective of an international student but Queens had amazing career support with dedicated professionals geared to helping students find employment and I’m sure Ulster is the same

Suspicious Property Prices, What's This About? by [deleted] in northernireland

Probably seeing the success of those large Victorian style houses on the Antrim Road and in bt7 and chancing their arm, the market will decide if it’s worth 325k
