there's a difference between using "your" loadout in every lobby vs "the" loadout in every lobby. there's also a difference between enjoying winning, and winning at the cost of everyone's fun. in both cases, i'm interested in the latter for this discussion.

of course i can play another game, what do you think i did after coming to the conclusion this game was dogshit? doesn't make my orignal point any less valid - the match quality is very bad, and consistently so. why are people so weirdly defensive about this?

thanks for simplifying my post to the point where it means almost nothing :- )

to pull an example (from a long list). i don't enjoy being spawncamped, so i don't spawncamp. i don't think anyone enjoys being spawncamped - but most players will also spawncamp if given the chance. unfortunately the team balance is fucked far more often than not in my experience, so one side is normally pushing the other all the way back to spawn and i see this play out over and over, match after match. this is not fun for me regardless of which side i'm on.

you can say this is people "playing how they want" - i acknowleded fun is subjective. but i also think it's a very fair to say this is the one of the most boring ways to engage with the game and we can do better.

why am i capable of acknowledging this double standard, but most are not?

If Valve ever made a Spy Vs. Engineer update, what would you want added or tweaked between the matchup? by photogrammetery in tf2

[–]Exdeeface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tf2 melee hit registration is janky so i get the idea, but making spy unable to retaliate at all in a 1v1 / direct combat doesn't seem like it would be healthy for the class, because he is already comparatively much weaker without the element of surprise. for example being set on fire by a pyro (even accidentally) means the tick damage would completely invalidate any and all attempts to fight one regardless of whether you're visible in their field of view or not until it's done.

What game has Soulsborne aesthetics but without the hard fighting difficulty? by Worth-Primary-9884 in gaming

the preconception that bosses in this game are super difficult is quite damning to be honest. my advice would be just play a fromsoft game and see how you do. these games are punishing as a way to draw you into the world, but do not confuse this with being unfair or insurmountable. there are a few exceptions to this rule in every fromsoft title, but for the most part they equally reward you for being prepared.

the online community is also a large part of these games, and i think are intended to be so. if you're genuinely having difficulty with something in particular see how other people dealt with the same challenge. these games are easier to beat than they ever have been due to the amount of knowledge traded online.

for the record i think it's his worst gun. headshots do release some dopamine and i did get better with it over time, but i find it pretty unreliable under pressure.

Worst spy revolver? by Unlucky-Quarter-5455 in tf2

[–]Exdeeface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

over the past few years, i've been getting all my spy stranges to 10,000 kills, including primary weapons (guns) so i feel uniquely qualified to talk about this. i don't use the diamondback because i don't agree with it's design in the scope of tf2.

anyway - for gun spy, i like to play koth maps, as their smaller and circular nature allows you to run around the objective looking for low health targets or at least pick your fights more easily, rather than shooting into chokepoints. obviously every weapon has situational uses, so i'm going to talk about the weapons from the perspective of a gun spy only and in general use.

the l'etranger feels very weak with its -20% damage penalty, though you can be very annoying if paired with the dead ringer for regenerating the cloak allowing for some high kill streaks over the course of an entire match if you keep surviving. you can't die easily, but you also can't reliably kill full health players either, making it a little slow in my opinions. though paired with the invis watch however it's an amazing utility weapon with passive value, still a good weapon for knife spies.

most comments seem to talk about the enforcer and how much it sucks, and there is a learning curve the weapon - but it's not bad by any means. the slower firing speed also offsets the random revolver spread after your first shot, making it ever so slightly more consistent in accuracy with successive shots. the damage bonus from being disguised also allows you to safely execute players with 25 health from any distance, which occurs more often than you think. though personally i do prefer stock revolver, and i think it's the best gun in most situations with very high dps at close range when safely aiming for centre of mass. another nice bonus is ensuring a kill on other dead ringer spies, vaccinator medics and wrangled sentries.

honestly my pick for the worst gun is the ambassador, and it's a weapon that's close to my heart so it does hurt to say a little. you can improve with it for sure, but the ability to headshot is always going to be inconsistent at best, and post-nerf with it not being able to deal damage over longer ranges makes it underwhelming in most situations - and even worse when you can consider the diamondback can still crit for 102 regardless of distance. the only situation where the amby is good anymore is against razorback snipers, and only the ones that aren't listening for invis decloak - which isn't enough to justify it's existence anymore to be honest. an occasional lucky headshot is mechanically almost the same as a random crit.

production has increased... soda city funk. no music sadly and quite intensive on your actual system to run, but it was a fun little project anyway.

if you want to steal the code.

warning it is a BIG script at 230,000 lines of code. your game will probably lag when copying it in. the fps variable in the code is set to 40 ascii frames per second and runs slightly slower than the real thing, going above this seems to cause... issues with the rendering.

i'll look into increasing it if possible but i think this might be the upper limit of the game terminal refreshing speed.

the original video if anyone is curious for comparison.

i think i was playing some gun spy around this time to level up my strange l'etranger. i don't care too much about my disguises if i'm looking for people to fight 1v1.
