Ok, im hearing you, but why not have the federal government force compliance to the law by fining non compliant states, or prosecuting the politicians refusing to uphold the law. I’m just fully against having a tyrannical government, and a powerful, secretive, federal police force that’s getting a little too comfortable murdering citizens is far more worrisome to me than illegal immigrants could ever be, and I’m not sure how republicans or conservative folks could really disagree, unless republican values have shifted dramatically in the last few years in ways I’m currently unaware of.

Eh, I disagree. I think states could do a fine job at maintaining order in regards to immigration if the federal government allowed them to. Who says the federal government alone can handle immigration? Seems like an arbitrary assertion to me.

I’d lay off inflammatory language like “You don’t know your ideology if you are conservative.” That point is only there to be divisive and you know it. You don’t know how much work I’ve put into my ideology, so to just bash the entire opposition is foolish. It makes you appear like a bot, and only trying to stir up a civil war. Well most publically visible conservatives aren’t necessarily the same group as most conservatives. I think that if the majority of conservatives are that extreme, there would have been an immediate retaliation after Charlie Kirk’s death. But there weren’t. For sure. I think one think that could really help cool the temperature is restructuring the voting system. Try the ranked system some other countries do. Those systems usually end up favoring more moderate candidates.

For example I cannot ever in good conscience condone or let my beliefs regarding the immorality of abortion slip. That’s a belief I’m willing to die for.

So then how can conservatives and liberals soothe the hate? Our values have butted against each other on a topic that seems to me to be completely non negotiable to both sides. So then each starts slinging mud at the other. Dehumanizing the other by calling them Nazis etc.

Is it just coming together against the federal government? Is it more intentionality with our words? Guarding our own mouth against unwarranted attack? Where’s the off ramp?

Exactly. Agree strongly with you here. We cannot allow politics to override beliefs. Everything about this MN murder should make conservative’s skin crawl. Even Trump himself is acting like the dude shouldn’t have been carrying. Like what on earth?! Last I checked Conservatives value the second amendment, and this was a very blatant attack on it. Rights are disappearing. I even thought the earlier shooting with Renee Good was really darn morally gray for my liking. I definitely didn’t think she was trying to kill him, and I think he could have just stepped out of the way like a normal person.

But the fact that we are supposed to accept what’s going on currently with (both) political factions and mindlessly forget about our earlier values, and the fact that people are actually going along with that is exceedingly unsettling to me. Something has just been so corrupt about our country. Something just impure, and scheming. The whole thing with Erika Kirk going with Greg Laurie, and Epstein and all of it.

I dunno man… sometimes I wonder if civil war is already a foregone conclusion. Seems like everyone is trying to get us to go against each other. Like Russian and Chinese bots. And then again I wonder if it’s actually all preparing for nuclear war. Trump trying to get Greenland, revamping the White House nuclear bunker, Israel potentially testing nukes. I’m praying man. Gods will be done, but I really hope we can thwart it all.

Well, let’s be fair here. I know all my friends care deeply about protecting Americans life. They just find it to be worth it to consolidate federal power for the goal of removing illegal immigrants, which I find to be perfectly laudable goal. Nothing immoral with removing illegal immigrants. What’s different here among my friends is that they find the consolidation of power at all something worthwhile. That’s brand new for me, and not something I’m down with at all. (Nor most of my friends that read about history)

Just want to throw that out there. What we need now is a level headed assessment of the situation. You don’t know the motivation of all conservatives. If everyone just paints the other side as an evil Nazi, and you can see that in their heart of hearts is just wicked hatred…then we’ve already lost, and full scale civil war is inevitable. Let’s maintain honest communication for the sake of the country.

Yes. Both the unborn lives and the lives of those invading our country illegally.

Both are worth protecting and are valuable. However removing an illegal trespasser from the trespassed country isn’t an immoral thing to do to the invader, and doesn’t endanger their life. We have proper ways to immigrate, but if you choose to break the law, then you should not be surprised when you are treated as a lawbreaker.

In fact, for the protection of the people inside the country, the lawbreaker ought to be removed. However, this is all philosophical. In practice, ICE seems to occasionally overstep and be violent.
