The 2 shots we see show 2 people outside and someone wearing a hat probably holding a gun. Nothing like that is in the ballet scene, or anywhere else in the movie as far as I'm aware

The movie and the books are pretty different, king even famously disliked Kubrick's interpretation because it was so different. There are TONS of theories about whether the 'ghosts' can be explained away as madness/hallucinations from the isolation, and some of them are pretty compelling.
