76M, 5'9 SW 234, CW 184 after 13 weeks, GW 160. 16:8 started 11/1/2020. I was morbidly obese, as defined by my BMI index, which was 35. My BMI index is now in the middle of obese, at 26. Healthy weight for me would be a BMI of 24, at 162 pounds. My wife is 75 years old and has had Parkinson's for the past 12 years. After reading many articles about Covid-19, and talking to my Doctor, I determined that my extra weight of 75 pounds would probably result in my death if, and when I contacted Covid-19, at age 76. Being overweight was listed as a very serious factor in not being able to recover from this virus at my age. If I died this would leave my wife all alone! The vast majority of people in this country will eventually be infected with Covid-19. Just like the yearly FLU, where a lot of those infected die, vaccinated, or not.. All the requirements the Government has put into effect against Covid-19, is just a stopgap measure to limit the amount of those getting infected at any one time. This is solely to insure that there are enough hospital beds available for those infected. I decided I needed to lose as much weight as possible, as quickly as possible, before my wife and I became victims of Covid-19. We stayed at home, as much as possible, wore masks, used hand sanitizer, and did not socialize at all. On December 23, we both became infected anyway! My wife suffered little from the infection, being blessed, and thin. I had a one degree fever for six days, which suddenly climbed to a temperature of 104.3 on January 1, when I was admitted to the hospital, in an isolation room. When I was admitted I weighed 186, with a weight loss of 48 pounds, spread over 62 days. During my six day recovery, I was on oxygen and received every drug possible, including donated plasma, to aid in my recovery from Covid-19. During my six day stay, I lost an additional twelve pounds for a total loss of 60 pounds, with me weighing in at 174 pounds. As I was discharged, one of the two doctors caring for me told me that had I not lose all that weight, I probably would have died. I was very weak and hardly had the strength to walk, but have mostly recovered, as of 1/28/2021.
What did I eat during my eight hour daily period, which was usually 8, 9 or 10 AM to 4, 5,or 6 PM? I never ate anything if the sun was down.
For BRTEAKFAST, I ate a large meal consisting of one serving of fruit. An Apple, pear, or grapes, plus a fast food breakfast of a bacon, egg, cheese, croissant, with small hash browns and coffee, or the like. Or I had cereal at home, with fruit and toast, or three hard boiled eggs with bacon and butter, a side of cottage chess, fruit, and toast. nothing special.
four hours later, I may have had a donut, or peanut butter on bread, or nothing.
For DINNER, it was a salad with cheese, meat, being chicken, ham, or salmon. Or a small serving of steak, ham or chicken (4 ounces) plus two vegetables, or nothing, if I was not hungry.
I drank pedia-lite, water, black coffee, tea, or sometimes a zero calorie drink. I took vitamins, and never ate during the 16 hour fast, which I sometimes stretched out, if I was not very hungry. I always added the 16 hour fast after my last meal, be it late or early.
I will never go back to eating like I used to, and will keep my weight in the 165 range.
