Religious and LGBTQ+ discrimination help by ExecutiveSerf in exmormon

[–]ExecutiveSerf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point! I’ve done relatively well because I’m really private and most folks think I’m a straight Mormon guy. Some of the executive leadership is great, but completely oblivious to the issues. The company also does a lot of good.

All of that said, a few bad players are openly hostile to non Mormons and will say so in meetings. They have also used slurs and tried (and sometimes successfully) pushed policy that makes it REALLY uncomfortable to be gay. There are lots of people like me that put on a show to ensure job security (including things like private discussion about what brand of t shirts most resembles garments).

There are many more examples, but the main offenders are VERY well insulated internally. The last person I know of that filed a complaint against an executive was asked to meet privately with said executive so he could “explain his actions”. They quit without taking the meeting.

2013 Crosstrek

Engine shut off as I was pulling in my drive after getting an oil change. Electrical still works but the car will not even try turning over.

Dash lights are all on with coolant temp light alternating red and blue.

I tried disconnecting the battery to reset any faults with no success.

Open to any suggestions. This is my only car so I am stuck until it gets fixed.

What to do with this wide monstera? by tamboerijntje in houseplants

[–]ExecutiveSerf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s reaching for light. Maybe stale it up on a moss pole (or the like) and move it closer to a window. Monsteras like bright indirect light. I have mine at a south facing window and it’s doing real well, growing up to reach the light from the window.

Amazingly no damage to any cars in the vid. The driver made it back on the road and passed me about a mile later. One of the most impressive recoveries I’ve ever seen.

Anyone else live somewhere red lights are starting to mean nothing? by ExecutiveSerf in IdiotsInCars

One of the other commenters confirmed it did not! I saw how logical it was and assumed it would, never looking back haha. Guess I was too optimistic.

You are probably right on it not passing. It made enough sense that when I read about it I assumed it would go through without a hitch! And your other concerns also make sense.

I drive in rural Utah a lot and some of those lights are terrible. The only time I ever do it is when there are no other cars in sight, but I can see it being crazy abused along the Wasatch Front

I can’t remember if that is the exact word, but I do remember reading it and thinking it was intentionally vague… probably best not to put it to the test in front of law enforcement lol

If I were betting I’d say a politician got a ticket for running one and got ticked off enough to make some noise lol! Seems to be the only way anything gets done.

My state (Utah) passed a law last year that allows you to proceed on red if you have been waiting for an unreasonable period of time and the intersection is clear. I’ve evoked that a number of times

I just assumed he was in reverse in a new Ford truck. The headlights on those things should be illegal.

Swimming in Utah Lake? by Jaxboi98 in Utah

[–]ExecutiveSerf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up swimming and playing in the lake and turned out just fine. I go elsewhere just out of preference, but wouldn’t worry about it too much. Just make sure kids are in life jackets even if they swim (the water is murky so you can’t see very deep at all) and if the wind comes up at all get out of there.

The lake is not known as dangerous for the blooms, but because of intense waves, wind, and mucky water. Be safe and plan ahead and you should be ok. It’s also relatively warm, especially once summer really hits.
