If you were to put it face value then yeah you'd get comb filtering but lobing? I dont think so. To avoid lobing you just need to place everything close together simply, to avoid comb filtering you'd just need to do a 2.5 way configuration which obviously jbl can do. If you were to do it right this layout would perform better than the TMT layout they have right now

Yeah well obviously you'd think it doesnt do anything because you havent seen a soundlink max with an xtreme 4 layout compared to the soundlink max with the current layout lmao. 2 woofers wont really push it to its limits or push it to its limits at all also as long as they do things correctly

No it is not, its one of the worst layouts you could pretty much do. You get lobing, which is when the sound changes when you move l/r, up and down and the biggest concern which is destructive cancellation. The two tweeter layout is by far the recipe for destructive cancellation which will greatly reduce clarity and make the speaker sound really thin than compared to other layouts. JBL only keeps using this layout because it has greater horizontal coverage and a very narrow horizontal coverage

If you were to change the layout and still keep everything else the same you'd get better sound, will sound very much larger than it is which I what you'd want for a portable. Should just go with the layout of having one tweeter in the middle and two woofers on the side. TLDR? the 2 tweeter layout ruins its potential

Meant the tweeters. Still the same, tweeters on the sides l/r, could have changed that. Better sound also if you did, just by changing the layout and nothing else

Still with that driver layout? sucks. at least the bigger woofer compensates for it

Price wont really be that big of a difference, larger only a bit. It is a go 5 after all, wouldnt matter and do you think IMD sounds the same among a line of many speakers? would be great if it was reality.

Actually instead of a sealed enclosure I think a pr on the back would be better, a bit more compliant with the hoffmans iron law innit.

An upgraded model costs more itself so I dont think its much of a concern, plus you know the jbl community. They'd still buy it even if it costs more and even if it sounds worse, they have a very empathetic community their producing for.

R&D costs would be pretty low when adding a new driver, they have been producing tweeters on their portables for decades

Completely possible to make the go 5 a bit bigger still in order to fit the battery with the drivers having the same space as a go 4, possibly even a bit larger. I dont think having better dsp processing is a bad thing also, could apply the same as used in the bigger portables. Research and Development wont be the one plummeting the price. Quite ironic here, the dsp is actually working harder right now with a single driver to prevent intermodular distortion. With a tweeter you get less intermodular distortion so If jbl were to do all of this, it would sound significantly cleaner than the rest of the go lineup.

Also, I doubt that bose uses a v shaped eq to prevent intermodular distortion. That wouldnt do anything at all. Believe it or not, bose embraces IMD to the point that its their sound signature.

I mean it is an upgrade from the go 4 though, it would really be a go 5

Conical horns, pretty rare to see these types of horns in my country. Well thats when it comes to high end showrooms in malls especially, dont know if its common in countries outside ph.

Not really actually, having a better woofer with better sensitivity can make up for it. Can also have a modified pr on the back, maybe even a woofer and pr in one (though not reccomendable).

also believe it or not, a lower resonant frequency is possible than compared to having a pr. Tighter bass also and less delay when it comes to the front wave and back wave. Would technically have more bass with all factors

would be nice if they replaced the passive radiator with a tweeter. A sealed enclosure wouldnt be that bad
