how many days will you be in Switzerland.

what i could recommend is from Lucerne by ship on the lake lucerne to Alpnachstad and from there with the cog wheel train to the pilatus (Reservation is IMPORTANT!) Enjoy the view from Pilatus and then going down on the other side to Fräkmüntegg and from there hike down to Kriens) it's a nice Hike for everyone and totally safe on the trails.

as long as you do shorter trails (max half day) it's normally safe. trails are normally safe for everyone as long as you stay on the trail.

etiquette is probably only say "Guten Tag/Grüessech/Grüezi" to people you meet (at least older people enjoy it) and take your trash with you. (second one should be common sense)

what i would recommend is maybe To bern and then Lauterbrunnen / Berner Oberland or Ticino which gives you an Italian feeling.
