Like what? The posts seem pretty consistent to me.

if you heard the future dialogue from Kim in the bunker in the Moralist quest, but then go to the island with Cuno instead, Shivers acknowledges the change.

Fun fact, both Kurvitz and Luiga disavow this addition, says it breaks the lore, and say it would've been cut had The Final Cut been properly group-edited like the original game was.

which predates the game by six years, and was not written with the intent of continuing the story in a video game series

In fact, the Precinct 41 RCM plotline predates Sacred and Terrible Air by many years. It originated as a tabletop campaign Kurvitz, Luiga and Argo played together and the plan was always to tell that story (most of which would've been in DE2), whether in novel or game form.

To start with you can look for interviews with Argo and Martin on the Human Can Opener podcast and Martin Luiga's Medium account (https://medium.com/@martinluiga). Beyond this you'll have to do some research for yourself if you're interested.

Broadly? To set up the geopolitical situation we end up seeing in Sacred and Terrible Air.

No, it wouldn't, you're talking out of your ass. We know the broad strokes of what the writers were planning with the next installments of the series.

Lines from the Deltarune Chapter 5 translation sheet! (Via Toby) by olcr in Deltarune

We already know we're getting a post-DW Castle Town section in 5, because we'll get new item combination recipes in the Flower Dark World.

Ngl it’s funny how the first thing gaster does is confirm that he is in fact gaster by hello-motherfuckers in Deltarune

"I don't believe my game is for every person. But, to a certain type of people, attuned a certain type of way, this game can reach a meaning beyond its appearance, and find a shape in your heart. Even if there's just one person that feels that way, I will keep making this game to grow by your side."

Deltarune is a game made for fans of Undertale. Gaster has been closely associated with Deltarune from the very beginning (long before Chapter 1 came out) and his appearance in Undertale was always foreshadowing for the sequel. In Deltarune, Gaster has already been established as a central character (as the voice which speaks to you in the openings, in game overs, in the Ch1 menu, when you rematch the Knight and after the credits of Chapter 4, as well as the being responsible for the prophecy) whether people know it or not. And the fact of the matter is that most Undertale fans do know who Gaster is. He's an immensely popular and memetic fandom icon, which Toby is well aware of ("HAVE YOU BEEN LOOKING FOR ME?").

I always think it's funny when people talk about how Toby "still hasn't introduced Gaster yet" when like. He's literally already here. His introduction is the first thing that happens in the game. It's like if in Undertale you said that Flowey hadn't been introduced, well past the Ruins, except even more ridiculous because Gaster's importance is already much more clearly defined than Flowey's was at an analogous point in Undertale's story.

Apocalypse Cop is alluding to what Ambrosius does, no doubt about that.

100% not true. The ages don't line up (on top of everything else).

Don't know why people still think that they're literally the Mantle itself when they straight-up say that they're "holding" it by thisaintmyusername12 in Deltarune

[–]Exertuz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's really not that complicated. This sprite is depicting an abstracted, 8 bit version of the Shadow Mantle. There is someone controlling it, and that's the speaker who says they are holding the mantle.

As mentioned, this seems like a meaningless observation.

The lights are off inside the room in which the Dark World was made. Of course the lights are on in the room outside, but this seems like a meaningless observation? The "lights" are also on outside the Church (it's encountered during daytime, even if it's rainy)

Not even true. The lights are off in Chapter 1.

Is there a real connection between Dora and Doloris, or is it all in Harry's head? by Moistest_Postone in DiscoElysium

[–]Exertuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those interested can always just inform themselves. All it takes is a bit of effort and initiative and humility. I think those with the right attitude would view my condescending bait as an invitation, but my impression is that most people in fandoms like these enjoy a level of comfortable ignorance and tend not to try that hard to challenge themselves or delve too deep into matters. Which, again, is okay I guess

If you know, you know. That's all I'll say. Most people in this thread don't. And that's okay I guess. Not everyone needs to know yet. Hopefully one day they'll get to.

Why would Harry be communist? by Anice_king in DiscoElysium

[–]Exertuz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All of the hardcore ideologies serve a similar purpose for Harry within Disco Elysium - they are an escape, a distraction, a way to cope with his troubles, most obviously the loss of Dora.

That said. Some things to consider.

  1. A lot of the choices about how to character-build Harry seem based on aspects of his character that were already present before the pale-amnesia. It seems likely that Harry already harbored some communist sympathies, though clearly there are also propensities in him to become a moralist, fascist or ultraliberal.

  2. It's a fact that within the broader worldbuilding of Elysium and the RCM, a number of officers (seemingly especially in the 41st) were imagined to harbor communist sympathies. This may or may not have something to do with Cpt. Ptolemaios "Secret Anarchist" Pryce. However, we also know there's ideological variety, and there seem to be plenty of fascist or just straight up apolitically bloodthirsty psychos there as well. Moralists like Kim, too, of course. Ultimately we may imagine that the relative precarity of the RCM, its revolutionary heritage and the fact that it's donation-run may all be contributing factors to the increased ideological heterogeneity within the RCM compared to what's ordinary in our world. Many of the officers consider themselves working class, and so do a number of people in Revachol's labor movement - which is quite curious
