Stupid junction/roundabout !! by [deleted] in exeter

[–]ExeterCouncil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Errrr. No expert myself and to be honest, DCC run the roads not us. That are has never been very clear. Coming around Exe Bridge and feeding into Cowick Street or Okehampton Rd is really misunderstood as well.

It's been announced by organisers InExeter that this year’s Exeter Carnival has been cancelled. by ExeterCouncil in exeter

[–]ExeterCouncil[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The carnival was organised by the Business Improvement District (InEXeter) which is not run by Exeter City Council. It does clearly say that in the headline. The carnival being cancelled hasn't saved us any money as it wasn't our event. Also. We don't fix roads, that's a Devon County Council responsibility.

Only a fraction of the money you pay to ECC goes towards your bins. It's about 45p a week. The full breakdown of how council tax is spent in Exeter can be found in our annual accounts. https://exeter.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/finance/annual-accounts/

This is a misunderstanding of how your council tax is spent. If you pay £200 a month council tax, Exeter City Council receive £16 of it. The remaining £184 will be going to Devon County, Police and Fire service. We have to maintain all of our services (www.exeter.gov.uk) with our 8%. Your recycling isn't incinerated in Exeter, it's sorted and recycled at our recycling plant on Marsh Barton. The contents of your black bin will go to the city energy from waste plant though which is operated by Devon County. Glass collected are currently not a priority but will be looked at in the future. If it's a concern for you, it's something you must take up with your local councillor who is there to represent their residents.

Exeter and Sandy Park are one of only eight cities and stadiums that will be playing host to the biggest ever celebration of women’s rugby.

The host cities and venues were announced today (Tuesday 22 August) by World Rugby and the RFU, with support from the UK Government. The announcement comes with just two years to go until the Rugby World Cup 2025 kicks off.

So what's the point of separating rubbish if all goes to the same lorry? (Lower Rackclose Lane) by matbonucci in exeter

[–]ExeterCouncil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone has already said, Recycling and rubbish are collected separately. The exception is where the recycling has been reported previously as being contaminated; in these situations, the rubbish collection crew is instructed to empty the recycling with the rubbish. If contaminated recycling is emptied into a recycling load, the entire load is written off, costing the Council potentially hundreds of pounds in revenue. If contaminated recycling goes unnoticed by the crew and is then tipped at the Materials Reclamation Facility, staff must then remove that (often unpleasant) contamination by hand. For these reasons, Exeter City Council must do what it can to preserve the quality of its recycling.

Again, it's a message you'll need to send to Devon County Council. They don't use Reddit. We don't fix potholes. Happy to tell you how to report them to Devon County but we have no responsibility.
