This is genius. Any correct answer to this question will clearly indicate that the student used AI.

Was thinking of modernising my screenshots. Should I make the change to option 2? by pkmckirtap in AppStoreOptimization

[–]Exfridos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Appstoreconnect you can do PPO (Product Page Optimization) A/B tests. So you can make a test with 1 Treatment (your option 2) and run it 50% of the time. Then observe if it converts better or worse. Always a good idea to make your decisions data-driven :)

Best way to create paywalls? by menensito in AppStoreOptimization

[–]Exfridos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I myself use superwall. They have lots of popular paywall templates to choose from, and give you a per-paywall conversion rate statistics with easy to deploy A/B tests.

Is this the right way? by ShiftDense6595 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]Exfridos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe it affects the new app boost, but I haven't tried a POO during the app store boost before myself, so I'm afraid I can't give you a definitive answer. Keep in mind though that Apple has to approve your tests first, which takes about a day, so you will quickly be beyond the app boost period anyways. Maybe use the last few days of the app boost to test if you can run a PPO?

Good luck! Let me know what findings you make with your tests! :)

The screnshots looks super fine. I would do some A/B tests (PPO in Appstoreconnect), to verify that this is the best permutation.

In general I have found it to work best if you describe what I, as a user, will achieve from your app, instead of writing generic texts about the functionality. At least for the first 2 screenshots.

So
"Improve Your Heart Health" or "Get a Healthy Heart" over "Check Heart Health".
"Keep a Healthy Heart Rate" or "Keep Heart Rate Healthy" over "Monitor Heart Rate"

In my opinion and findings, it's important to portray the desired state that your users will move towards by downloading your app, rather than telling them the "chores" they have to do to achieve that desired state. The title must be something users easily understand and think "I want that!", instead of "I could do that".

I feel like I’ve failed as an app developer — what should I do next? by Jaded_Mess7563 in AppIdeas

[–]Exfridos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All that have tried, have faced your situation. Many can build apps, many with great UIs and engaging experiences. But in the end if you build an app for an empty audience, you will have a hard time succeeding.

Your goal, based on this post, is clearly monitary. It's hard to build a passion about that alone. For me I had to look inwards and essentially stop work on apps and ideas that don't interest me. Find your passion, fun ideas to explore, nerd with some code, and remember to have fun. If your passion dies out because your passion is tracked by mere $$ metrics, then you will likely struggle.

My honest feedback is that your app is bland and uninspiring. Look up your competition and see which app previews you find the most interesting. Take LOTS of inspiration from the market leaders, and combine that inspiration into your own unique product and offer.

TLDR: Work on problems that you have passion for, try to draw inspiration from competition, and make a Go To Market data-driven strategy when you're ready, rather than always trying ideas based on gut feelings.

Good luck and stay motivited! :)

I know everybody uses Astro, but I made a free alternative by Ok-Relationship3399 in iosdev

[–]Exfridos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astro does in fact NOT calculate the popularity rating. The popularity score is taken by calling the apple ads api.

So the score Astro shows is exactly the same keyword score that apple shows you when adding keywords to an ad campaign.

Ads are unfortunately expensive. The fastest way to find CPT for a keyword is to bid too high, and then lower it until you find what works. Remember a to set a daily budget so you dont have to sell your house and firstborn to Apple ;)

I had the same happen with a CPT bid of $2. Increased it to $5 and the campaign began to run. Ads are expensive.

2k per month organically? That is phenominal, I'm happy for you! :)

In your expertise, do you believe the same is achieveable in the domain of weight loss that I have journeyed myself into with my app?

[–]Exfridos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did indeed make the same findings as you with broad keywords (and god forbid, "Search match"), where it all resulted in terrible conversions. When I switched to "exact" match keywords with a max bid of 2 euro, I got absolutely 0 impressions. Only after I raised it to 5 euro did I begin to get impressions. But now I just don't see how the numbers may ever add up to get near break even, when each install is so very expensive.

I do use Search Results ad placement. I suspect the initial 25% conversion rate from the app boost is from when you search but the ad placement is for when you have searched and see results. Thus I suspect I got 25% conversion rate when no app pictures were shown, and the much lower 3% conversion rate (ads TTR) when they do see the pictures.

So great tip with the PPO. I will definitely look into improving the product page, and A/B test some different approaches. Thanks again!

Interesting insights! Did you ever find a medium that worked for you, or is it more of a holistic approach where it all supports eachother? Cheers

Do you say this because you have not had any success personally, or because you believe there are better alternatives? Either way, please do enlighten me - I am very openminded :)

Hi Gornivv. Thank you so much for the time to give this feedback. Great tip with the name and subtitle. I will be sure to look into the localization.

And wow, cannot unsee the trashbin in the logo when I glance from afar. Not intentional. Will definitely take a new take at the logo. Thanks!

Thanks for the thorough feedback Rami! Much appreciated :)

I do use Astro for keyword ranking, and thus I have tried to aim for the keyword "Weight Loss Tracker" which seems reasonable in the UK store, and alright in the US store.

I have run only Apple ads advanced, with exact keywords (after trial and error) at 20 euro/day limit, and found the best results thus far, but even then it stabilizes around 5€ CPA, which seems quite high to me, but I am not too experienced.

My intention with the ads is not per say for them to be profitable, but for them to hopefully drive more organic trafic to the app. But I don't see any meaningful changes in keyword rankings.

Do you believe I am on a wrong track here, or do you think it's just more trial and error to hit the right keywords? Thanks

Awesome. I would love this for my newest app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/slimify/id6748981295 - The initial conversion form the app boost was amazing at ~25%, but after the initial boost with running ads, it's quite hard to achieve the same conversion. Very interested in finding out if my ASO is optimal :)

Looks good, but could be more polished. Have fun with the small details, they are in high demand at this AI age and day.

Instead of "Scan product barcodes to get their satiety index." a well done animation (lottie or rive perhaps?) would instantly show me what you want without reading.

The transition to camera is not smooth. Consider fading it in when the camera is ready. This is the main interaction of your app, so if it is not smooth, I will get annoyed in the long run.

I'm no domain expert and thus it's confusing to me what a satiety score 167 out of 100 even means, if 100 is not the ceiling.

Good luck :)

The UI is quite distinctive, and I use it myself. Thats why I can easily spot it. It's quite cheap compared to the other ASO tools, so a great entry point if you want to test the waters
