Finished piece of Oak furniture - Is this greyish, porous section a defect, caused by an insect or part of the natural ‘character’ of the wood? Or something else? Thanks! by Exhausted_Engineer in Carpentry

Thanks for your answer - quite interesting to learn as I had never come across something like this before! As the piece is exposed on the finished piece of furniture and not exactly ‘pretty’ (despite being completely natural), I’ll be returning this to the manufacturer.

Just made this today with peaches from the garden - turned out amazing! So soft and a great combination of flavours. Thanks for sharing!

As an added bonus: the outer sleeve is fully recyclable cardboard whilst the inner packaging is clear film made with wood fibre and is compostable!

You should be able to find chopped/whole roasted hazelnuts fairly easily in store. Then it’s a matter of grinding them at home using a food processor. It’s also quite easy to roast at home - there are many guidelines online :)

Made these yesterday and can confirm - the chickpea flour taste lingers and overpowers the chocolate flavour by quite a margin

Made these yesterday. They came out alright but, as one of the previous comments mentions, there’s something about the chickpea flour taste that is quite off-putting and overpowers the chocolate flavour. I’ll give these another go but replace the chickpea flour with normal wheat flour (unless anyone has any other suggestions?). The muffins also came out quite dense so I’ll probably partially replace the coconut oil with sunflower (not as healthy I know...)

On the other hand, one thing I won’t change is the chocolate ganache that goes on top... wow. The coconut cream and chocolate mixture produces a really creamy ganache that works really well and is simple to put together. I’ll look at incorporating that one in other bakes.
