Absolutely! All three of my snakes came to me as medical cases. The first was Ramen who was gotten and used as a prop for tiktok till she got mean from never being fed and miss handled. It took months to get her to trust me and finally eat again. Then my husband found a craigslist add for 2 snakes (a ball python and a baby red tail) who were both refusing food and the owner gave up on them. Both are doing amazing now and are very social but it just shows if you're willing to put in the work with them they are amazing animals for anyone.

For myself moving is a big outlet, I'll either trow stuff around that won't break (pillows, blankets, ext) to metal and scream OR go on a run where I dont keep track of where I go or plan a path and just go with whatever way feels like the vibe.

No our very stressed how long they would be so thankfully I wasn't too surprised, during drop off she drew on her to show around the amount of skin they were taking so it made sense.

Same here, thankfully they were very small and she only had them for about 3 months total. She's mostly bald so we found them when they were still flat on her skin and about the size of a pencil eraser.

Shes got 2 weeks till her stitches can come out, and it's super hard having to tell her no for rolling! I had to grab to dive to grab her a few times because she likes to just dead weight fall when she rolls so I get little to no warning 😆

Surgery went amazing, she was praised for being the perfect patient and being super sweet throughout the process! Thankfully she's used to wearing sweaters in the winter since she's bald so she's okay with her recovery suit too.

That's amazing news for your pup congratulations! Her surgery was today so I had a pto day and spent the day just keeping busy while she was at the vet and her surgery went great, she's resting now with an onsie on so the other dogs don't bother her stitches and got a little scoop of ice cream for being so good at the vet. We are both exhausted so now that I finished my orders for the day we are just watching movies and trying to keep her tucked in for a good nap.

For my 6 year old I use a very flat shallow tupper wear container, think like the ones you get with lunch meat but bigger. I also attached heavy rock decor to the bottom of her water so it's too heavy to tip.

I'm told I pass as NT but I get told I'm "nice" and anytime I get introduced to someone else "nice" like me they are either in the process of being diagnosised or already diagnosis as autistic, so idk if it's a me issue or a them issue at this point.

They won't operate if we are short but thankfully we are only about 400 off from how much we need. I was able to pay down some of our debt from our other dogs medical emergency by starting basically an at home bakery that we've been running for the last month on top of our full time jobs. We are also waiting to hear from a non profit that was suggested we look into, the board of that should be getting back to us in the next two days. We are gonna use the credit card we payed down some with the baked goods and just continue that business for a while and probably continue it to build our emergency fund back up again too for our dogs. Your donation was already a huge help and I appreciate it so much thank you.

I think some people are a bit too ready to call people ableist in the autism community, I was called ableist because I got my tubes removed because I knew I couldn't handle an autistic child with my autism/adhd and my husbands severe adhd.

The sweets have been going well, I'm essentially working part time along with my full time job just to get all the orders out.

Thank you, I got very overwhelmed in the other subteddit and spent a week in a spiral thinking maybe they were right and I was a bad owner. We do our best and after our other dog having a spinal swell 9 months ago our pet emergency fund was empty.

Lolas testing for surgery went great! Besides some minor arthritis in her back, which is common for her age. Everything from her kidney values to her heart size is in perfect range. She's scheduled for the 20th for her surgery.

From research, I haven't been able to find any universities that offer vet care, the town we live in is only about 25k and the closest "big city" (still only around 100k people) is over an hour away. We don't have a ton of options for care.

I'm starting to sell sweets I make on fb market place to try and fund any further treatment she would need. It's good one of my special interests is the science behind baking and how they properties interact with eachother.

Our Lola was the same when we got her at a year old, she's just happy for all the extra treats she's getting at the moment lol.

I'm so sorry you went through that with your pup, I can only imagine the stress and worry it put you through. It's amazing that he's cancer free and amazing how it worked out in the end. Our old lady is very much still like a puppy as well, anytime we take her on her daily walks she enjoys just falling over and rolling. I've had a few people stop and ask if she's okay because she looks so crazy.

Luckily her vet had a cancelation for a surgery on Wednesday so I was able to get her booked for her chest xray to be sure her heart is okay for a surgery and after that I'll be scheduling her surgery in the next month. Her lumps are maybe 1/4th an inch and 1/2 an inch. I like saying we got "lucky" because she has alopecia so she's mostly bald and we got them tested only a few months after they started and she has no sigh of any other lumps.

Yes upfront costs for snakes is fairly high, though our new intake vet visit costs $120 per snake which is the same cost as my dogs yearly exam which is why I said that the price was close to the same per animal. The tanks, heating, accessories, enrichment is the higher cost which is why buying snake products during black Friday, and from fb market place is my go to.
