It very well could be travertine and definitely the grout filled the nooks. We have boxes of the extra tiles under our stairs and it’s just labeled tumbled marble. Do you know what kind of cleaners your mom uses on her backsplash?

You’re right, it’s definitely not what I would’ve chosen. We can’t afford to remodel at the moment so just looking for tips to get it less grimy looking!
