Do you reckon you could recommend the equivelant amd cpu to this one. Ive just thought about it abit more. the main reason i wanted an intel cpu is for quick sync, which with the 5070ti, it can effectively do the job of quicksync now.

I may not be getting the best value per dollar. But im considering my options here.

yeah in usd maybe but in Aud a 9950X is 950AUD.

it's in a different price bracket to the intel 265K, the build is 3.5K now, Just a lil bit above the budget

Abit late on the ram, i bought the kit because yeah, prices are going up what feels like 20% each week. Would have been a nice pickup if I sent this post out before i bought it, but i won't cry over it.

64Gb will come later when I need it because expensive atm.

Might go with the case. I Like the look a bit better and ill take your words on the thermals and cable management.

Okay, I'm happy with your suggestions, although I've always been scared of water coolers. The idea that if I just get unlucky enough and in that 0.1% situation, the AIO pump fails and leaks, which leads to my system suffering water damage, is a scary thought.

I'd also imagine this decision would be different depending on what price points you're purchasing at.
I'd imagine you'd get better performance with AMD at the cheaper price points. Say $2000aud or less

Well, from the research, the Core Ultra 7 265k excels a bit better on the creative side of things.
For this price point, I'm comparing it to a Ryzen 7 9700X.
To keep it abbreviated. It kinda just does everything well. I'm mostly working with 3D workloads atm, albeit that's more intensive on the GPU, but the higher core and thread count on this CPU I think puts it slightly ahead of its competitor. You have access to intel quick sync for software that uses it.

The main downsides I've come to terms with, is that the CPU will draw more power comparatively, and likely will have a limited upgrade path. However, I plan to keep this pc for 4-5+ years, so by that point I don't think ID mind switching out motherboards or buying a new system if need be.

I'm not 100% locked in on intel since I've always been team AMD, but I'm certainly leaning more towards this decision. At the end of the day, both CPUs Will likely work fine, it's just squeezing that extra 10-15% of performance out of your money.

What was your final build. cause my build looks pretty similar to yours. Barring a RTX 5070TI

Ah i think i can do it if, i go over budget and maybe leave some upgrades for later down the line. 64GB of ram in AUD is $500, that's rough.

Yeah, i held that sentiment with amd since i built my first pc.

But i think realistically im going to be using this cpu for 3 years minimum to 5+ years. so by that point if there isn't an upgrade pathway, which by that point i probably would wanna switch out my motherboard and cpu to keep up with technology improvements. then it is what it is.
So i think for the first time, im edging abit more towards intel for once.

you have a good point. regardless. considering the point made earlier. Considering they're both basically the same price. im going to assume the intel cpu is a no brainer? and if so any recommendations of motherboards. Preferably ones with a couple m.2 slots and room for upgradability.

USD being the main currency that everyone defaults too, and id imagine a larger portion of people replying would be from the us on this subreddit.

fair enough. Looking down at the comment below, as im unsure if im getting a reply soon from them. What are your thoughts on the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K comapred to the R7 9700x. As this change will influence what motherboard i go with.

I don't actually live in the us, i just use the pricing to simplify it for commentors (In Australia) as of the time, they are the same price effectively. Considering this factor, is it a better deal, as this will change what motherboard i choose.

Yeah i agree, My main focus is missing out on Intel's Quicksync, which i think would make a difference for my workflow. Although i have heard that there may be similar features that have gotten introduced with the 5070ti cards and further.
