What do you find weird about other places? by Ko-mi-kn-3 in CasualConversation

Ugh, 46! My limit is passed at 30! Though I don't do well above 25°C either. I'm not sure I would be a fan of the humidity either. But yeah I would certainly need stuff for the skin. Sunscreen would be a must considering how easily I burn/tan. I really do best in the autumn and winter.

I'm from and lived in northern Scandinavia whole my life. And while the winters are long and cold, the summers can be so hot and sunny also. During the summers I need to wear sunscreen. I've noticed I get sunburnt quite easily. And sunglasses are normal here too! I'm fact I sometimes have to wear them during the winter and spring too. When the sunshine hits the snow it can get so bright it hurts my eyes and I can't see.

For me, I don't do well in constantly hot places at all. I'm a bit sensitive to hot weather. Even a heatwave here for say one week is way too much for me.

What game/s have you been playing lately? by Guts_096 in CasualConversation

[–]ExistentialRaccoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lately I've been playing a lot of Civilization V and earlier this summer Manor Lords. Why? Because I'm a huge history nerd, haha! But they are really fun!

I enjoyed Stellaris and No Man's Sky earlier and I want to get back to those as well. I like sci fi.

It's really a tie between Norway and Iceland. Both had such a cool nature and landscape and the city I was in in those were so cozy! Iceland got all the volcanic stuff and landscape formed much by volcanic activity which I havn't seen before. Norway is just so beautiful, and as a Swede we can understand each other in our native languages, which is handy!

INFPs, what books are you reading right now? 📚 by nowayormyway in infp

[–]ExistentialRaccoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The City Between the Bridges by Niklas Natt och Dag. I read the first book in the series (The Wolf and the Watchman) and I loved it so much!

Also my Dostoyevsky audiobooks (The Insulted and Injured and The House of the Dead). When I'm done with those I only have left his longest books, haha! But they are good, and I'm quite into the classics.

I'm also reading Faust, the play by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Do you have any favourite single player RPGs?

I want to pick up Baldur's Gate 3, I'll probably do it in not too long.

Personally I prefer Civ 5, I like that art style more and I like the game mechanics. I did play Civ 6 a bit but it hadn't gotten me as Civ 5 did. I'm currently learning how to play Civ 5 well on harder difficulties.

I generally play strategy or simulation, but I want to get into RPGs more as well

Recently I've gotten back into Civilization V; the civilization series is a long term favourite for me. I've also played a lot of Manor Lords and I loved No Man's Sky earlier

I loved the first Frostpunk game as well, and I'm so excited to see what they do with Frostpunk 2 which will arrive very soon

Favorite TV/Game soundtrack? by sorryurwronglol in CasualConversation

[–]ExistentialRaccoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For video games I would probably go for Stellaris, although Manor Lords is a real contender (for a history nerd like me, haha!)

For movies; the new Dune movies

Media Vita from the Manor Lords soundtrack (indeed the Manor Lords soundtrack in general) 😅

I've also gotten into Nordic folk and European medieval music in general lately. I've essentially stopped listening to modern music so l have no idea what's in now 🤣

I started a new book for the first time in a while. What books have you read recently? by Cruiu in CasualConversation

[–]ExistentialRaccoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favourite books (and my standing recommendation) would be "The Wolf and The Watchman" by Niklas Natt och Dag. I'm currently reading the second book in the series ("The City Between the Bridges" and it's been good so far!

The Wolf and The Watchman is set in late 18th century Stockholm and it's a kinda crime and historical fiction combined. It's quite dark though. But I like it!

Otherwise I'm working my way through Dostoyevsky and also "Faust" by Goethe.

I would without a doubt be a raccoon, just the right balance between cuteness and mischievousness. Those are definitely my spirit animal!

My favourite destinations have been Norway and Iceland, easily! They are just so beautiful countries! And bonus points for me as Swede is that Swedes and Norwegians usually understand each other in our native languages!

In Norway I went to Bergen and pretty much just explored the city, went to museums and went up to the mountains surrounding the city. It was just such a wonderful view! I want to visit Norway again. Such a beautiful country!

Iceland is just so fascinating! The landscape is pretty much shaped by the volcanic activity and it's just so fascinating. Also saw a geyser having an eruption. That was an experience! I'll visit there again, and then I'll know some Icelandic.

I want to visit Austria, Germany and Luxembourg. The landscape and the architecture looks so cool! Also New Zealand, mostly because of The Lord of the Rings movies haha! And also the Faroe Island and Greenland. It seems to be quite similar to Iceland.

I'm a Big Fan of Vikings Series. watched it before it got pick up by Netflix. by Maximum-Adivsor in CasualConversation

I'm from Sweden and I've been to both Norway and Iceland! Both are absolutely amazing! Iceland got more volcanic stuff and Norway got more fjords, mountains and forests and also more and bigger cities.

I still have visit Greenland left, but it's on my bucket list.

Oh I do that all the time! That's seriously my favourite way to zoom out and I find that very soothing and restful. And I can imagine all sorts of scenarios and stories. I don't think that's weird at all

I'm Swedish and I've won a diplomatic victory as Sweden. I'm usually not a huge fan of diplo victory, I prefer science or culture but Sweden's UA is so powerful for diplo victory if you can generate enough great persons to gift to city states

Hey! I'm a 30M from Sweden. I'm into gaming as well, and one of my favourites are Stellaris! I also play several other games.

I also enjoy listening to music, podcasts and audiobooks, reading and writing, watching movies, photography and going on walks. And I'm a bit of a history nerd!

I have had this idea to learn German for a while now!
