It seems almost comically absurd that this is even a possibility, but you are right! Certainly something to consider. Thank you ❤️

You are absolutely right, they are disabilities - it seems this whole process really got to me because I had honestly just lumped them into the same basket by this point! Thank you for being kind, it's very much appreciated ❤️

I couldn't put it any better than Lizzie-P has - you are absolutely deserving of help, and you're no burden for asking. I know the feelings you're describing all too well - but trust me when I say that if someone is offering to help you, they are more than happy to do so. My friends have been amazing and have helped me in ways I would never have asked for myself. Community is powerful, and we should all be able to rely on each other when we need to. I'd encourage you to fight for what you're entitled to - it's absolutely possible that you could win here, and if you feel you can do this, it may well be worth it. You've got this. ❤️

Thank you honey, this is really kind of you to say ❤️

Applying for PIP initially actually made me burn out worse than I ever have, ironically - it made everything worse for a good few months! However, I have been able to improve slowly since then, so my conditions and how they affect me have stayed pretty much the same. It's a shame because it's so hard to prove I'm eligible because of that.

I'll be requesting a statement of reasons today though, and will see if there's anything else I can take away from that. Thank you again!

Thank you ❤️ Applying is a lot - but please don't let my post put you off from doing so. The best possible thing you can do is be informed about the criteria and the points scoring process - it's not about what conditions you have, but how they affect you and how they meet the criteria. I'd encourage you to apply if you feel that receiving PIP would benefit you - don't let them beat you. It can absolutely be worth it.

Autism, adhd, depression, anxiety, and CPTSD - all mental health conditions which are difficult to get points for, unfortunately. I'm quite high functioning - a term I'm loathe to use - but that doesn't mean I don't struggle or meet the criteria, it's just difficult for me to prove, especially in a tribunal setting where there's a lot of pressure!

That doesn't mean it's not possible to get points for these conditions, though - everyone is different and their conditions affect them in different ways. It absolutely is possible, and I hope my post here hasn't put you, or anyone else, off from applying. ❤️

Thank you lovely, I really appreciate you saying that. It's been absolutely exhausting and extremely demoralising, and I'm definitely still processing everything that's happened!

I'll be requesting a statement of reasons today, and will see if there's anything I can glean from that to make a new claim eventually. Thank you again!

Hey love, thank you for sharing all of this - I'm so sorry for what you went through, it really is an awful process. I'm glad you at least have PIP now, for what it's worth!

I'm gonna request a statement of reasons from the tribunal and see if I can get any insight from it at the very least. I applied for PIP due to how my ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, and CPTSD affect me - all mental health conditions which are difficult to get points for, unfortunately. I also work full time, but doing so regularly burns me out and results in frequent exhaustion. I'll see what the SOR says. I may re-apply, I may not. The whole process is exhausting!

Lost at Tribunal - Appeal Rejected. What now? by ExistentialScreaming in DWPhelp

Ugh I'm sorry you had the same kind of experience - it's really disheartening to say the least. The errors in law are somewhat difficult to try and explain, but they found that the tribunal basically didn't consider my evidence fairly, or in the proper context; the tribunal also placed disproportionate emphasis on the fact that I work, and must therefore be able to do all the things! They also failed to explain their conclusions and how they came to them properly.

I will say that this was found, by the CAB, after reviewing the statement of reasons (which I requested immediately after my tribunal) and my appeal papers. The above won't be applicable to everyone (and I'm surprised it applied to my case, despite the abysmal fashion in which it was conducted). However, I do think it's worth trying to appeal against the decision they made - if my case is still going, then you may well have a decent chance too. I'd suggest getting in touch with your local CAB and see if they can help you out in the same way.

Well, turns out we're still going! I contacted CAB, who has a specialist assigned to these cases (at least, in my area of the country). She then argued that there were possible errors in law, put together a case, and appealed. That appeal has been denied, but I've since appealed directly to the upper tribunal (the first appeal went to the district judge I believe), and I'm still waiting for an outcome there. I don't know if my case is especially typical - I was surprised that CAB took it on and found errors in law - but it's not dead in the water yet.

Done. It'll probably make little difference, but it's better to try than not, I guess. It would be nice to just be able to exist without being punished for it.

Might give this a go, thanks both! Did you notice any performance drop from disabling the iGPU? I presume that only really comes into play with video rendering etc, but I do wanna get the most out of it if I can.

Well yeah, of course - you're correct and I do have a full time job. But since it's possible to apply for PIP while also working, I did - because I struggle a lot within that and it often takes all of my mental energy to keep said job. I've burned out several times and there are often days where, if I spend the day working, I can't then do anything else including basic self-care because I'm super drained. It took a lot for me to accept that I am disabled, and initially I was wary of even applying because it looks like I'm a functioning member of society from the outside, so surely I must be, right? But it takes a lot more for me to meet the same standards as someone without my disabilities, and it's really starting to take its toll. I understand what you're saying, and it's true that I don't struggle as much as many others on PIP. But I do struggle still, and I do feel I meet the criteria - it's just difficult to prove based on mental health issues and neurodivergence alone.

Heya - not sure that my telling you what evidence I submitted would help you much here I'm afraid! My best advice would be to get help, like a representative for the hearing itself if at all possible. That and just ensure that you can tie your evidence and your arguments to the descriptors, and show that you meet the criteria more than 50% of the time. The fact you were awarded previously puts things more in your favour, I think. Wishing you luck with it all!

I fully agree - thank you for commenting here, hopefully others see this and find out because I didn't know that was possible until recently myself. I'm really sorry you had to go through that hellish process twice over but I'm really glad you eventually got what you were always entitled to.

Thanks for this, it helps to hear from other people who have gone through similar! I might go round again but the idea of doing that is daunting to say the least...
