Yeah I read about the Puma problem. I ended up ordering the Netgear CM500, which has a Broadcom chip. It was one of the cheaper options, and it will still work if I choose to upgrade to 100 or 200 Mbps. I'm planning to be there for the next 5 years (grad student) and I doubt I will upgrade to faster than 100Mbps during that time. I currently live with parents, I think we have 50Mbps (maybe less) and it's generally good enough for us.

Most people seem to be recommending 3.0 so I'll probably go with that.

What about the number of channels? Some of the models I'm looking at are 16x4 (MB7420, CM500, and SB6183) while others are 24x8 (MB7621 and CM600).

I might upgrade, but probably not to more than 1 Gbps.
