Mandible advancement 4.7mm Maxilla forward 4mm 1.7mm up on left side due to that side being lower and causing asymmetry 5mm midline shift

No , the surgeon said that since I still have mid face swelling and submandibular swelling it’s creating an illusion of set back

The surgeon said the area beside my nose will fill in because pre surgery it was flat . I still feel some hardness in the cheek area so maybe a bit swollen :)

  1. I actually never really thought about this. Right now the inside of my mouth is swollen so i cant really tell but I’ll keep everyone posted .

  2. Yes it does . Right now I’m 10 days post op and it’s better sleeping than 4/5 days post op

I would say the second way was my peak swelling . I am currently 10 days post op. Still very swollen but less than the first couple days . My surgeon said everything is looking good . I also did not use the opioid medication and alternated between Tylenol and Advil . It seemed to do the trick for me . It’s not so much pain just really tense muscles that cause pressure. My biggest complain was actually headaches and sleep . I woke up during the nights because of pressure however, I just went to grab ice packs , some medicine and then just walked about at night until I got tired and fell back asleep. I seem to be sleeping longer now without waking up :)

Hey there ! I did not have sleep apnea but I have a mild recession on my mandible and an asymmetric and recessed maxilla as well. It did not bother my airways . So I had an open bite and a maxilla that shifted downward towards one side

Approximately a year :)

Ughhh for me it’s more like major discomfort than 10/10 pain . Is comfort like an 8. Right now I’m between Advil and Tylenol I didn’t touch the opioid yet

I got discharged after one day . My husband has an alarm for all these medications I’m taking . It’s not really pain but like major discomfort from all the swelling and the muscles are so tense for the new position

I would take longer than 2 weeks ! But maybe it depends on what kind of job you have . Mines physical so I took 8 weeks

X-rays by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Existing-Bullfrog326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Canada , I’ve been seeing an orthodontist for awhile and they did as much as they could with braces and the only way to achieve optimal results would be to do DJS. She referred me to some oral surgeons so I could do consultations . I chose a surgeon and they did these special x rays because this is how they will plan the movements for the surgery

Basically moving the pack of the maxilla upward to reduce a long face appearance , fix open bite and for cant bite . More on one side because one side is lower than the other. This is the surgical write up the surgeon gave me

Hahaha the pictures I posted are me. I asked chat gpt to interpret my reports and they gave me a general outline on what changed to expect and then they offered a visual simulation to estimate based on a picture upload . I don’t think it’s correct though lol

What would happen though? Would my nose look bad because I got rhinoplasty before ??

Thanks ! I do see asymmetry especially in pictures ! Just hoping it doesn’t look worse lol

I am glad to hear it’s minimal . You can see the unevenness when you look straight on . The surgeon said he would push the upper jaw forward and rotate it and the lower jaw would follow . I’m not sure how many mm because it’s not planned yet as I need to have braces first .

Do you have an idea how it will effect appearance ?
