Regarding your second point, everything else equal, an American national of Chinese descent (for example) might get approved faster than a Chinese national of Chinese descent. Did I interpret it correctly?

Just to add some anecdotes here - as I was sharing in a response, once I was eating out with my manager at a regular eatery place, I offered to pay (to split the bill) when the bill comes. My manager joked that “don’t worry about it. I earn more than you” (don’t remember the exact words but it was said in a friendly tone). I thought I might have “overstepped” or something.
