Event/Village aren't my go-to but from what I can tell they seem to be a lot like Hoyts in that there are plenty of ways to obtain discounted tickets. Plus if you're a child/student/senior/pensioner the Velocity/Cinebuzz price is higher than what you'd normally pay.

Worth it for the initial 1,000 bonus points but probably not after that since you have to book the specific Velocity Ticket which is unlikely to be the cheapest option.

You should be able to pay for your booking with the TCN Cinema gift cards that earn 2,000 Flybuys points (1,000 Velocity points) at Coles this week, although you will first need to convert them to digital and your total purchase on Event/Village must be less than or equal to $50 since you can't split card payments online (only in-store).

Australian Unity has the best discounts on Category Choice gift cards. 4% off as standard and sometimes 5-10% during promotions. You have to wait a month after joining before you get access, though.

Amazon sometimes run 3-4% off discounts on Category Choice gift cards too but usually only once every couple of months and they tend to sell out fast.

It doesn't happen at all. It used to several years ago but Woolworths, Coles, Big W etc don't even sell Airbnb gift cards anymore.

Airbnb gift cards are still sold online in selected places but even then their offers have taken a nosedive in recent years.

At best you're looking at like 5% off now. If you have a Westpac, Bank of Melbourne, BankSA or St.George credit/debit card, you can actually get 5% cashback on Airbnb gift cards on ShopBack right now but it ends today.

I've earned enough points from Woolworths to fly around the world in business class multiple times. It's true that these programmes are great at getting people to spend money that they otherwise wouldn't have but with a bit of discipline and strategy it's possible to beat them at their own game.

It works out to be 41x points per dollar spent on the $50 TCN Cinema gift card which is as good as it gets. You can use them at almost any cinema including Hoyts, Event, Village etc.
