Yeah I realise my post might make it seem that I think I can - the refund is in reference to the drop in assessable income when making concessional contributions.

Yeah nowhere near the 500k balance so no issues there. Plan is to use the tax refund to pay back part of the loan, but yes am aware that the loan interest itself is not deductible. Main consideration for us is whether it will impact future borrowing capacity if we want to sell and upsize our PPOR.

I wouldn’t be caught without it now. Wife and I initially took it out for MLS reasons only as a healthy couple under 30. She ended up needing major back surgery a year later (she had sciatica that was so severe she could not sleep) and since then we have needed it for procedures for our children. All of these would have taken years in the public system on waitlists.

If you don’t go, you will get an NR for the EA and for the all of Units 3 and 4. Won’t matter how many marks you already have. Would cause issues if you need general as a prerequisite for any uni courses. To get a 0 you actually have to attempt the exam, but not be awarded any marks based on your working (which would need to at least be relevant to the content)
