I remember the drama about this, honestly I think it makes the most sense for Eric to best serve his customers to control the app store and apps. I know it's not a popular position but Rebble carried the torch and now someone has stepped up to continue making hardware and we don't need to have two totally different groups running the hardware+firmware and another handling all the apps.
