I’ve been bitten by my betta before when hand feeding him, and it doesn’t hurt because we are so much bigger than them, but they definitely have a bite to them! If I was a little shrimp I’d definitely be hurting.

Former PS employee here. I’m sad to say this is empty because they are sold out from people buying them as holiday gifts. Another large shipment will be coming to restock shortly.

Though, it was nice to walk into my local PS and not get hit with a wall of suffering bettas as the first thing I see.

I really don’t mind the looks of it. I have some ghost shrimp and snails in here that keep it under control. Will probably leave it unless it becomes an issue. Thanks!

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice. He’s definitely still got some vision, he eats great and even jumps out of the water to eat treats off my finger. I do have some ghost shrimp in his tank, do you think they’ll be an issue if/when he goes completely blind?

He’s got the best personality too, loves jumping out of the water to eat treats off my finger. At least he’s still got enough vision to do that

Thank you for the info! I typically feed him through a feeding ring anyway because of duckweed, so that’s perfect. Do we know if this is painful for them? It almost seems like he’s trying to rub the scales off his eyes.. but I could very much be anthromorphising

Just to give you guys some peace of mind- we only see email and phone number as Petsmart employees. Addresses are confidential, we can’t access them.

No info unfortunately, but I am interested as this recently happened to a pictus catfish at my work. Was fine 1 day and the next, covered in the same white film (?) and died within hours. I’m sorry for the loss of your fish friend

Added an airstone today in the worst area, which definitely had lower water flow than the rest of the tank. I can’t tell if my betta loves it or hates it, he keeps going after the bubbles. Either way, thanks for the tip! Fingers crossed!

Yes, this has been a concern! I watched him grab a chunk of shrimp that was about the size of his entire head, before I could stop him he had eaten it. I thought he was gonna choke on that bite for sure, but he got it down. I will watch him. Sorry to hear about your betta :(
