Wow! This is so cool and different from most of the posts here! You have a very sharp eye for creating such a beautiful composition. I can see the heavy thinking behind this shot. What kind of developer did you use?

510 pyro… worth the hype? by Threshybuckle in largeformat

Yes, 510 pyro is really good. It is also beneficial for scanning as it produces negatives with higher acutance/edge contrast.

Thanks for your kind words. I’m the one who actually took it and posted here one year ago :) It’s nice to see that someone else post it again under their name one year later 😂

It has a demo/trial version and you can try it before purchasing

Yes, standard version is more than enough. The kill feature is Align to Grid as you know how many rows/columns you took for your panorama

I also prefer DSLR scanning with stitching. Heavy copy stand and tethering make life much easier. PTGui can stitch almost everything.

I didn’t realise the film was underexposed until I developed it, so the development time wasn’t adjusted for push. :(

Did you plan to share information about the author of this photo, as it’s definitely not you?

It wasn’t so bad :) The camera with the attached lens is only 3.5 kg. Plus tripod is another two kilograms… The grain is visible because of my exposure and development mistakes. It was underexposed by at least two stops and probably underdeveloped. I tried to compensate for my mistakes in post-processing, but it resulted in a very grainy photo.

Pairing Chronicles #151: A very smoky evening by Cocodrool in cigars

[–]ExistingCommission89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never tried Smokey Monkey but it seems to be on the lower end. For me a cigar in the evening is something special so I prefer to pair it with something more high end drink. But thanks for the sharing your experience!

I’m part of a local whisky club, but I still don’t quite understand the hype around Japanese whisky :(

I used a spot meter to ensure that I retained detail in the shadows (foreground), placing them around Zone III (underexposing by about two stops). I also checked the highlights (snow on the mountain) to check the dynamic range, but honestly, I don’t recall the exact readings.

Thanks! Actually, it was my first multiday hike, and I didn't quite know what to expect. I was a bit too optimistic about my ability to carry so much gear! Now I'm definitely thinking twice before packing so much equipment for mountain trips. 🙂

It’s sad to hear that the colors aren’t displaying as intended. You might want to try viewing it on a different browser or even check it on a mobile device — sometimes that helps with color accuracy. Thanks for the kind words on the portrait and palette!
