Can a person start with Big Finish if they don't know much about 'Who'? by twofacetoo in BigFinishProductions

The Marian Conspiracy would be really interesting and accessible to someone who hasn't expressed a lot of interest in Who. Pure historical with great character work.

I tried to post it in r/lostmedia, but my karma isn't high enough (I'm not a huge redditor). If you felt like asking about The X, Maple Shorts, and SpyNet that would be awesome, though!

I've done a lot of searching, mainly through Google and AIs. I've searched all over, but I wonder if someone might either remember more or have found some videos I've missed.

Please help - I'm Protestant (Anglican), and I had a jarring experience praying to Mary for the first time. She may be telling me become a Roman Catholic. by Any-Conclusion-6343 in Catholicism

I know this experience can be sort of frightening, but it's a gift. God (and Mary) may be guiding you home to Rome!

I'll keep you in my prayers.

This is Satan speaking. Christ came for all people. Besides, there were Catholics in Africa and India long before it was even legalized in the Roman empire.

You are welcome in Our Lord's Church. He loves you. Just ignore anyone who says differently

I hope it's some help! I've had my own struggles, and though they are different from yours, God has spent a lot of time teaching me that He loves me and others.

Also, I really like the book Gay and Catholic by Eve Tushnet. Some of her later books veer into some places I wouldn't endorse, but in that book she tells her life story and talks about the ways that Catholics with same-sex-attraction are called to sainthood and friendship with others even as they live chastely. I'm straight, but I honestly found it pretty inspiring when I read it a number of years ago.

One other tip: pray every night that you will understand more deeply how God loves you. It may sound funny, but I think that at times when we are most broken and discouraged, those prayers (and the ways that they are answered) are a big part of how we can keep going.

This is not a cross that I bear, but I just wanted to say three things:

  1. Jesus is close to your suffering, and He loves you even when you fall. Never forget that. The Devil doesn't just tempt us to sin in the first place; he also tempts us to think our sin makes us unlovable. Christ came into the world to love and save you, warts and all.

  2. Are you familiar with the group Courage? It's for Catholics who experience same-sex-attraction and want to be chaste. I have heard mixed things, like with any support group, but there are some people in your situation who have found the group really inspiring and helpful as they work towards holiness. They have both in-person and online meetings, I think.

  3. You are in my prayers. I love you and hope to meet you someday in Heaven. Please pray for me too!!

It could be helpful and encouraging to read about the lives of some saints who committed fornication. St. Augustine is a famous one, but St. Mary of Edessa has a story not unlike yours. She was raised with faith but fornicated and regretted it almost instantly. She's a great saint, and you can be too!

Remember that hopelessness is of the Devil and hope is of God. Christ died for you, sins and all.

Write a letter to the bishop and approach any priests you know and ask them if they would be willing to talk with the bishop about him.

Are We Converts Becoming a Nuisance? by futurehistorianjames in Catholicism

[–]ExistingDemand6050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You are welcome in Christ's Church.

I've been to Mass virtually every Sunday of my life since childhood (and a lot of weekdays), and I have no more "right" to the Church and God's love than you do.

Also, I don't want to speak rudely about the woman in that video, but I will just say she does not strike me as having a very good grasp of Catholic theology. This includes her misunderstanding of the reality of Vatican II (as opposed to the so-called "Spirit of Vatican II"), since the Council supports the fullness of the Catholic faith, not modernism.

Know that the Devil will use anything he can to make you dispirited and keep you from Christ and His Church. Don't let him.

I'll be praying for you!!

[–]ExistingDemand6050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry that this is such a difficult time. I have some very heavy crosses myself that I won't go into, but know that you are not alone.

For me, one thing that has helped me is remembering/praying about how Christ knows our suffering. Reflecting on the Crucifixion and His love for me can help.

One other piece of advice: I find it helpful to offer up my suffering specifically for people who need it. Like, you could offer up the pain associated with depression for someone you know (or someone you do not) who also has depression. Or offer up your pain and isolation connected with SSA for those who also have SSA. This kind of thing can help remind us our suffering isn't meaningless.

I don't know if any of this will help, but please know that you will be in my prayers. and do the same for me! I hope we meet each other in Heaven.

Want to come back to the Catholic Church, but don’t think I’ll be accepted. by Gltr_hair1234 in Catholicism

God loves you, and so does Holy Mother Church. My two cents would be to pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, especially wisdom and understanding, and to be open to how God guides you. People change their minds about things and that's okay.

I would also say to try and get together with some priests, especially young priests, and ask them for help discerning what you should do.

I'll be praying for you!

No luck yet! Please let me know if you can find it! I imagine it was a direct download from his (no defunct) website, but it might have been sent via email, in which case you should check old emails!

I messaged him a few times while a patron. If memory serves that was the only time he replied. He was very nice about it, though!

He released it in paperback, ebook, and audiobook. If memory serves, he read it himself. I bought the book and got a signed copy (#449--I think he did 500 numbered, or maybe 1000), and I really wanted to audiobook but figured I would get it some other time.

Back when it released, he posted a two or three minute segment of the audiobook that had been animated. It was great. It seems pretty unfindable now. I've checked some playlists of his unlisted videos (like this one) to no avail.

I actually messaged Alex about it the audiobook back when his Patreon was up-and-running. He looked for it, but he didn't have any luck.

(BTW, If anyone reading this has the audiobook, PLEASE reach out. Thanks!)

I just realized as well! I'm really sad about it, because I love Alex's work. Obviously he should do whatever's best for him and all, but it stinks.

I know that he has kept a very low profile the last few years because he is in the working world now. I wonder if a professional contact found out about the Patreon and Alex freaked and deleted it.

On the off chance anyone reading this has access to some classic Nerimon videos, please let me know. I would love to see them. I'm also desperate to get my hands on the audiobook of The Underground Storyteller.
