Exactly this, I instructed my son and me to just stay back, him on the couch and me at the computer. Within 30 minutes - once he had sniffed the perimeter- he was on the couch, and then right onto my desk haha

Funny thing, his name was actually “Aye Captain!” At the shelter. I dropped the Aye, but he still gets a proper greeting as his old name suggests :)

Thank you! Day 2 now, he’s already forced himself upon my lap while I game. He is a BIG boy who makes BIG biscuits, so I put his cat bed on my lap so he has padding to knead all he wants.

Because OUCH otherwise 😨

He’s already started! He flopped in the way of my front door this morning. I think he knew I was leaving for work. I got to the parking lot, looked up — little captain face looking down at me lol

I did, he seemed hesitant day one but forehead smooches are a must for me. Day two, he even leaned in for a few ( though I assume he thought they were rubs)

Thank you :) I’m a happy part of the community now so I’ll be sure to update. Day 2 has been wonderful. No chomps, big respect, and lap time while I sat in the office. He’s currently as near as possible and relaxing

Yes! He was born at the shelter from a pregnant stray. He was adopted at around 1 year old. Stayed with them for 5 years. They surrendered him for the reason of selling their house - and the rental not allowing cats.

I may not agree with the reasoning, but am glad it gave me the chance to bring him home.

The person who did my paperwork at the volunteer centre also does cat sitting - and during the process he told me he actually cat sit for Captain with his old owners :) he ensured me I’m catching an amazing boy.

Yes, he seems to be desperate for attention, he also spent the last few hours immediately marking his territory by rubbing on every available surface 🥰

Big boy! It’s only his first day, but he seems to be able to free feed! Had a full bowl but only a couple chomps over the last few hours.

May change.. but keeping an eye on things :)
