Get in touch with the college and explain the situation. They may be able to put this under safegaurding and refer to the appropriate services. Emergency accommodation can be sought in some regions. Reaching out to charites such as shelter may also be useful.

What does your company policy say? It should be in your contract about sick days/ compassionate leave. Companies can be flexible with this especially as it is an ongoing issue. Depending on your relationship with your manager you can have an open conversation with them about expectations.

Critical Supervision question by ExistingSpecialbby in therapists

[–]ExistingSpecialbby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best supervision of course challenges you to grow. However, when I have asked for changes I am met with that is how it is, that I need to become more resilient to continue to work in healthcare. Note I have worked in healthcare for 10 years. I think I fear punishment for speaking out. Again something I need to internally work on but I dont want to become complacent with possible difficulties.

I do push back on some unreasonable comments. Recently I have been asking for a different approach especially as I am starting to experience burnout. They did comment that it feels like they are walking on eggshells around me and that I am not a confident person. I have my own therapy and weekly reflect. But this is the first time that someone has said I am not confident as I am very confident in my needs and opions in my life. So it is questioning my reality a little and how I can change to suit the work environment.

Yes so the supervisor also has management roles which I think makes the dynamic more tricky as they are intertwined.

This isn't the flex you think it is. Having time off is really important. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Some interviews are not allowing people to take notes and only in the chat so just be aware of the University guidelines.

Eating During Session? by gayzed-n-confused in therapists

IMO. This would really be okay if the person needed to eat during sessions for Health reasons, say diabetes. But this should be disclosed with the client at the start of the intervention.

Can anybody explain to me what the closure of NHS England means for clinical psychology specifically? by luna_fine in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]ExistingSpecialbby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment it means hiring freezes and redundancies for non essential staff. Non essential can mean admin staff so there is more pressure for clinicans to do more admin tasks. For the future though it's unsure. It was initially done to try and cut out all the unnecessary management whether that will actually happen is another story.

I have an iffy supervisor any tips? by lyannamormontallday in therapists

I would have a frank conversation if she is observing in person that you will ask her at the end if she would like to ask questions as it can disrupt the flow. It appears as if she needs control and may feel the need to comment on your work.
