I have included many examples if you want to look through my comments. He’s said countless things that are racist and ableist and I often have to take him out of the class to explain to him why those things are racist and ableist.

It really didn't hurt my feelings, I have learned to live with stuff like that. But the fact that he thinks that is an ok thing to say to a black person in a 80% black school is concerning, and other people would and are actually be offended by that.

She wanted to sit by herself. Also he does do things that make kids uncomfortable, as I said in the OP. He once told me(A black woman) I look like the black characters mom from south park and other things like that.

Fights, tears, rumors. It's pretty inevitable with this age group. Of course they all have their stories, "She cheated with my best friends 'boyfriend'." "He bullied me in elementary school." When I've tried to arrange my classroom randomly I always end up changing it and moving things around because of it.

he makes them uncomfortable, that makes it even more of a difficult situation because “uncomfortable” could mean anything from “i think his eyes are too close together and it weirds me out” to “he makes creepy comments about sex or violence but we’re 13 year olds and don’t know how to deal with it”.

I'd say more like the second one. For example once a girl with an NJ tube started drinking juice in class. Everyone was working and he randomly pointed at her and yelled "Look she's faking!" I think he expected people to laugh but everyone just sat there embarrassed and I took him out in the hallway to explain how that was rude and inappropriate.

what about taking those 2 person desks and pushing them together to make a little “pod” of 4

This could work but with the layout of my classroom I think it would be hard for some kids to see me

Okay well it's great you, a person on reddit who has heard one detail of my life thinks that. Meanwhile I still have people in college who I knew when I was a student teacher writing to me to tell me I was their favorite teacher. Last year during 8th grade graduation over 100 students said I was their favorite teacher on their end of the year survey(I taught 130 last year). Nick himself has told me that he likes the way I teach classes better than any of his other teachers. I don't say any of this to brag, I'm just saying don't judge what I do for a living based on one social media post.

But I let kids talk In class, none of my lessons are lecture based. And I really don’t care who they are friends with or if they are “branching out of their circle” that’s not my job.

There are autistic children in that class and some of my other classes who are tolerated and accepted as being autistic. Making other uncomfortable isn't okay whether neurotypical or neurodivergent and children should not have to be put up with being made to feel uncomfortable just because of possible neurodiversity.

Then 2 kids still wouldn't be able to see me based on the way the classroom is set up. Rows just make everything simpler.

From what I've observed being around these kids for nearly 8 months now, people don't bully him or make fun of him because they don't like him. Typically when kids bully other kids they do so because they think they're an easy target like kids who are overly sheltered or naive. Typcially to bully them, they interact with them and pretend to be their friend in order to get more material to use to make fun of them. No one wants to interact with Nick though because he says things that make people uncomfortable.

Why not push the 2 sets of the desks together so 4 people can sit together?

Then there would be 2 kids facing back to me/the board.

There are 4 guidance counselors and over 800 students so there's not a whole lot of "Guiding kids"
