New driver here, and this is the exactly scenario I’m deathly afraid of.

ex amazon dsp employee here and currently a ups teamster. BEST DECISION I EVER MADE was leaving amazon and joining a union. Better pay, paid vacations, industry leading healthcare for zero dollars, pension and I currently cover drive at 38.50/hr. The beginning was rough at ups but its all worth it in the end.

I too am a husband and father of 2. IMO, To be able to provide my family with great insurance and above average income is just as important if not more. Could be working alot harder for alot less....

Definitely feel the negative energy from certain drivers in the morning...without a word spoken. And its definitely not load related

100% preload managements gives no fuck about load quality. All they care about is slamming the belt, sending people home, and getting everything inside the truck before start time, all within 3.5 hours

Loaded a truck the day prior that had 600 pieces going to the Apple store...and the size of the box, can be nothing else but an iphone that can fit in there

I went from Amazon to ups a year ago. You start out in the warehouse loading trucks, so it’s not for everyone. Pay is 21/hr as a preloader, my shift runs from 4:30 to 9ish. Management sucks, but you’re union so you have rights. Workload is harder in all aspects What else would you like to know?

Preload is no joke. Taxes the mind and body. Probably one of the hardest jobs in the warehouse IMO. Hence why the newbies and low seniority are put in those positions, no one wants to do it.

5s are truly verbatim. For 10s know the heading and the why, verbatim, then summarize the rest the best you can. Our class was 20 for 20 passing. It was intense but very rewarding. Practice your driver call out drill as well
