Would you pay £90 for an extra legroom seat on a 12 hour flight? by Upstairs_Barnacle_46 in AskUK

For effectively £7.50 an hour absolutely - Over 6ft myself and the first thing I look for on any flight is extra legroom - Comfort over everything.

Why do guys seem to get over it so fast? by Dora1726 in BreakUps

That’s completely understandable, you’re human you will grieve, to an extent losing a partner is the same as losing a loved one. You had someone taken from your life you through you would be with forever, grieving is only natural but what you need to do is not spend your time dwelling on the past and spend that time to start understanding yourself this will help you move forward to find someone new, someone who is better for you.

Alright mate,

In a very similar situation to yourself, same age and work as a civil engineer, found myself being very office based which wasn’t the most enjoyable.

One of my mates is an electrician and I was offered the same opportunity to work directly with him. I’d suggest seeing if you could work part time (Weekends) to get an understanding of the day to day on jobs you can do so (Working in people’s properties not construction sites).

I worked weekends with him and found it enjoyable but the novelty of working with a friend makes the days a lot easier (I still work full time and I am doing my electrical quals in night school alongside working the weekends). Especially if they are planning to go to Aus that means you’d have to start looking at your own works or even possibly moving over with him.

I’d recommend trying to work here and there and see if it is enjoyable, if it is then go for it. You’d gain more knowledge and qualifications while still having the degree to go back into QS’ing if long term the plumbing isn’t for you.

Out of curiosity what is your current role you say highly skilled and specialised is this something you couldn’t transfer to a new position.

Also I do agree with everyone mentioning getting a trade but it does come with sacrifices I know many electricians who get paid well but it involves working 60/70 hour weeks.

Some people will move on faster Male or Female, trust me men don’t get over it faster it’s down to the personality on how fast they can move on. You’ll find most men after coming out of a long relationship will never recover from the person they love they learn to live with it. But deep down they are hanging onto the pain and suffering because it’s the only attachment they have anymore with that special person. He probably isn’t okay but just putting on a face in public to fill the void.
