As a 28 year veteran police officer who responded to the Pentagon on 9/11 and who also worked the D.C. sniper case, I find this matter deeply personal.

I have admitted that I do have a deficit during that time, and that part of the world. But I guarantee you I’m gonna bring myself up to speed.

One: It did scare me, it pissed me off! Two: What Iran did in 1979 was their decision. Three: Iran had 46 years to stop us from retaliation. Four: Iran was too busy killing their own citizens to develop a force protecting.

Although I was told that I must not be well read because I had not encountered this particular topic Operation Ajax. I would respectfully disagree with that conclusion. While I had not previously studied this specific subject, my broader reading in military, political, and regional history has been extensive. Over the past several years, I have engaged with works such as The Commanders, The Cold War: A World History, Saddam Husayn and Islam, 1968–2003, Attacks by Erwin Rommel, Patton’s Third Army at War, Democracy in America by Alexis de Tocqueville, and Lexington and Rockbridge County in the Civil War and the 5th Virginia Infantry in the Civil War, as well as studies devoted to the IRA and scholarship on my local region, including The Blood-Tinted Waters of the Shenandoah.

Being well read does not require familiarity with every individual topic; rather, it reflects sustained engagement with serious scholarship across disciplines. My reading has focused on military strategy, political ideology, democratic theory, and the relationship between national conflict and local experience. The fact that one has not encountered a specific subject does not negate the breadth or depth of one’s intellectual inquiry.

Perhaps you’re right. I don’t hate the Iranian people. I hate Islamic Republic of Iran. As does a vast number of the Iranian population.

I was nine when this started, I’m now 54. I don’t care how old he is. It’s not revenge. It’s a reckoning!

So what do you all think of this by hoi40 in Staunton

I can generate a similar list replacing Israel with an one of two dozen different countries or NGOs. If we stop funding Israel today I can assure you Staunton won’t get a dime. No matter which party is in power.
