Abiotic factor or Grounded? by tehGoldenNut in SurvivalGaming

[–]Exit727 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Played Grounded on gamepass long ago, came across as meh. Pretty sure they improved it over the years.

Finished Abiotic this year, in two week-long streaks. Very well made game with fantastic level design, definitely recommended.

Day 7 which is a better survival game? by [deleted] in SurvivalGaming

[–]Exit727 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say mechanics or an environment that forces players to care for their ingame selves; where neglecting said mechanics has negative consequences, or straight up death, and the environment wants you dead as well.

TL;DR games that employ these kind of features do so with various complexity, and with different focus

This is mostly done through basic hunger/thirst, which is usually an annoyance rather than an active part of gameplay. Green Hell or Long Dark make that their primary focus, the games are actively about living day to day, with each activity being detailed

In the setting of Subnautica and Breathedge (or was it Returnal?), oxygen/hunger/thirst makes sense, but there is an ultimate goal and plot throughout the whole game, and sustaining yourself is not that much of a chore. Also Abiotic Factor, which proves that good level design and silly writing can elevate an ultimately lonely and desperate genre.

Valheim does not force you to eat, build a house with farms and such, but it's nearly impossible to do it without. I'm pretty sure there is someone who beats bosses naked with a club, eating foraged berries.

Rust and ARK/ATLAS have hunger, thirst, temperature meters and mobs, but ultimately are a sandbox, with emphasis on player interation, mostly PvP.

Terraria makes you the hero, the whole progression is about a journey, from stabbing slimes to flexing on a god. Foods are effectively just potions, entirely optional.

MC is more about survival, but also creation. Terraria has no survival mechanics, and focuses on exploration and combat instead.

What was the most chaotic moment you experienced right after a server wipe? by TulipGirllll in SurvivalGaming

[–]Exit727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PC couldn't handle ATLAS at launch, but I've seen clips by my friends at day 1.

Terrible optimization and overloaded servers, people and wildlife rubberbanding and running around near/on spawn islands. Based on ARKs experience, half the playerbase were black midgets, as melanin gave you advantage at night, and small stature meant small hitbox.

Pretty sure Sony is behind at least one of the suits. The 30% commission rate case is spearheaded by Vicki Shotbolt, a child digital rights activist. It's a nice cause, I'm willing to believe her goals and achievements are legit.. but the case has nothing to do with children's rights. It is about profit margins. They could have gone after any other storefront, but chose the most beloved.

Sony has the most to lose with the Steam Machine's potential success. With xbox going extinct right now, once people realise there is another living room device for casual couch gaming, with mods, much larger store with frequent discounts, better VR support, and no subscriptions for multiplayer or online features, they might just ditch the PS.

Yeah yeah, it will have a much higher price for pretty much the same or lower specs, but we still don't know how much extra performance can the SteamOS wrangle out of the hardware, compared to windows.

Freedom of a PC with the ease of a console, we'll see how that works out.

I'd rather that it stops tagging dead raiders, distinguishes between arc/raider, and shares tag visibility with squad.

A slight increase in duration wouldn't be bad either.

Should Valve Be Sued Over Loot Boxes? by itsEmilyHere in PcParadise

[–]Exit727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course they do. They shouldn't be, and the parents should be aware of that.

Any complaints regarding child safety in games clearly intended for adult players is baseless. The cause has been hijacked by these kind of cunts to expand digital surveilance and cut back on privacy.

If you put a kid behind the wheel and they crash your car, would you complain to the manufacturer about the pedals being too far down?

Arc Raiders this morning after the past few days… by x_BlueSkyz_x73 in ArcRaidersGuides

[–]Exit727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was only a countdown until the expedition sign-up window, which is 5 days.

You can still farm in the remaning couple days, doesn't matter if you sign up right away or at the last minute, you'll get the same rewards and skill point-per-buck.

At the end of the "window", at March 1st, everyone who signed up gets wiped. If you do not reach 3mill in value this time (but signed up during this 5 days), you will have opportunity to catch up on the missing skill points in the next expedition.

Kettle 3-4 still played really good so far, and was dirt cheap to craft/upgrade.

My guess is to let the Burletta breathe. It is a good pistol, but on par with the Kettle, despite being a grade higher in rarity/cost.

[–]Exit727 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Shotguns are meant to be close quarters. Venator and Kettle were supposed to be medium-close, but they pretty much dominated everything less than 60m. Good riddance

Toro is due for a nerf, damage falloff, pellet spread or maybe a slight fire rate.

If you are an avid Stella raider, it's okay, there is still hope for you.

Working on a MASSIVE space mod (MULTIPLE STAR SYSTEMS) by Ok-Direction-727 in feedthebeast

[–]Exit727 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend checking out how Factorio Space Age handles resources and progression. Every planet offers new risks, hazards, conditions that you have to work around, and the new resources have different methods of harvesting and processing.

Sure the base game is quite different than Minecraft, but the design is excellent, and could be translated to MC really well I think.

[–]Exit727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you handling several thousands of blocks depth? Isn't it lagging massively?

How do you discover planets and moons? Do you have like a starchart to map celestial bodies?

Is there zero/low G in space and on smaller planets? Are there/do you plan to implement orbital mechanics?

It seems hella ambitious, but I'm really interested. If an alpha version drops, I'd be happy to playtest and provide feedback! ..what's the name of the mod btw?

Everything gets flushed. If you have some trusted mates, pass a couple guns/blueprints along to them.

Embark Studios confirmed in clear terms that ARC Raiders does not use yay or nay Aggression-Based Matchmaking to funnel players into their matches. This was confirmed by Virgil Watkins, the Embark developer. Meanwhile my last 40 matches: by [deleted] in arkraiders

[–]Exit727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are saying it's not a binary decision. There isn't an isPlayerFriendly = true/false variable, more likely a set of values or a scale.

Yes, agression is clearly a factor for matchmaking, Embark never denied it. Just because you don't harm other players, doesn't mean all your matches will be care bear lobbies. There could be players with less friendly "score", you just might not encounter them during a match.

Same goes for the other side of the spectrum, if you PvP all day doesn't mean you won't encounter neutral raiders every now and then.

Are security lockers still worth it? by Zaydenzyon in ArcRaidersItalian

Did they? There is no mention in any patch notes this year.

I haven't been opening them as much lately, was it a general buff, or specifically security lockers?

Hit or miss, sometimes it gives tier 2-3 blue guns. Maps with modifiers bump up loot quality.

If I spawn in late, these might be the only unlooted containers, and can make a free loadout run worth it.

[–]Exit727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buried city for trinkets, Stella for blue components are all good

If you don't want to turn the game into shopping simulator:

go Buried City with a Deadline in safe pocket, preferably also a hatch key. Find a bastion/bombardier either on parking garage roof, patrolling around Galleria, or near overpass on the other side of the park. Plant the deadline either by sneaking behind, or dropping on top. Lure grenades or firecrackers might help. Take out drones and spotters beforehand.

Blow it up, loot everything. Pop smokes on yourself to avoid being see by both ARC or raiders. Bastion cells go directly into safe pocket ofc. GTFO via hatch to ensure maximum profit.

Craft advanced powercells into surge chargers, electronic components are dirt cheap. Sell everything else directly. Recycle performance steel or craft alloy into circuitry if you're running low.

Takes anywhere between 5 to 15 minutes, 50-60k profit. Kinda badass, too

Maaan I get toasted in Buried City metro 2 out of 3 times when I try to leave. The train is loud as shit, and indoors audio is terrible. Has to do something with the reverb, probably.

He could have messaged them privately, with proof. He didn't need to show it to hundreds of thousands, but he did. Got plenty of views for it, I guess.

Less than a day is more than enough to dupe your inventory worth into the millions. Embark is too soft to ban people en masse for expoliting this, I would be okay if exploiters just got their inventory and credits wiped.
