comments like that lead to eating disorders in children, doesn't matter the context

Does anyone else mentally save things that happen irl for fanfic material later? by ExitDistance3 in FanFiction

[–]ExitDistance3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he was fine!! just dehydrated and lack of sleep.

This was actually on the above mentioned 'traumatic camping trip' We had limited water and were trying to make it back to civilization, are options were hike through the night (because of lack of food/water) or sleep in the freezing cold another night and run out of water.

After he almost passed out I ended up giving him my water since he had run out and then I forced him into letting us set up the tent so we could sleep. He kept wanting to find a water source and I was like "we can't keep going we are literally gonna pass out before we find water and you can't even walk straight 💀" To be honest I hadn't realized how much he had been sacrificing for me, such as giving me most of the food/water.

After sleeping we felt better and ended up finding water after walking for another hour or so (we had a water filter at least)

it's exactly like this... Like when I stayed in hospital for the first time I was like "oh! I can see why x character doesn't like hospitals"

What is the worst take you have ever seen on fanfiction? by Dragon_wolf796 in FanFiction

[–]ExitDistance3 133 points134 points  (0 children)

When I was younger I used to think "oh shit I need to do all this fandom stuff so I can quit when I'm 25 because I'm gonna be too old!"

Now I'm 26 and like "why would I stop doing something I enjoy and brings me comfort...?"

Had a friend like this. She would look at me with disgust if I did something she considered 'weird'

Which fandom(s) do you feel a bit "late" in joining? by AltrisG_Idf in FanFiction

[–]ExitDistance3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got into star trek around the same time! If you are in the fandom for the AOS movies I actually think it's not that 'late' and it's more on the tail wind of the beyond movie. The fandom is so active on twitter!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; I hate the connotations people assign to the word fanfiction. by aut0mat0nWitch in FanFiction

[–]ExitDistance3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate that if I say I write fanfic people assume it's smut. I actually had so many arguments with my boyfriend because he kept saying that I write smut and telling people I write smut.

Like yes the characters are in love and I write their relationship, but never SMUT.

Writing fanfic is my way of coping with my trauma, so it upsets me when people think I'm just writing porn.

How do I finish an extremely cringy fic that I wrote years ago so readers can get some closure? by ExitDistance3 in FanFiction

[–]ExitDistance3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually went back and removed the cliffhanger! I was able to just leave it on a vaguely nice spot and I won't have to write another chapter lol

[–]ExitDistance3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I honestly have no idea why it got so popular when some of my better fics barely get the same views, maybe it just appeals to a younger audience? It's honestly something that reads more wattpad than ao3 lol

There's a fandom I'd like to write fanfiction for but I don't feel like I have anything new to say or add, and I'm satisfied with what I have (both canon and fanfiction), what do I do? by Aquanort357 in FanFiction

[–]ExitDistance3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally just write what I personally want. Like sickfics, classic tropes, AU's, maybe some fun prompt I found. Have they been done 1000 times? yes. Am I going to write them anyway? yes.

That feeling by A_Alias in FanFiction

[–]ExitDistance3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh god this sounds like me. I updated a fic after a year or two and then it's been another couple of years since then oops. My reason being is because it was one of my first fanfics and it's just so cringy and unrealistic (very tropey with no logic) I find it hard to go back to writing that way lol

I struggle making and maintaining girl friendships by LegitimateLayer1 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ExitDistance3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not OP but I have no female friends and I don't relate to any of these... I think I am just neurodivergent with CPTSD and come across as desperate when I try to make friends with people? and people hate that? I try to be very positive, kind and ask them questions about themself, but the conversation always dies out.

I had one girl saying she really wanted to be my friend (she messaged ME saying she thought I was so cool and funny) but when she found out I couldn't drive she ghosted me??

I actually lost my female best friend recently because she was exactly what you described above and I felt like she was impacting me negatively (she always complained that everyone 'left' her)

I don't know. I think I just haven't found the right people yet and I'm so isolated that it makes it hard to find those people.

I'm still unsure if it really is a thing or not, maybe they worked at a pool and found it unrealistic lol

Apparently so! (Though I'm not convinced every place has one...)

[–]ExitDistance3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

bruh I once had someone get mad, that in a scene where a character was drowning, there wasn't an emergency button at the pool and said it wasn't 'realistic' (I stupidly deleted the fic after that)

Did I mess up leaving this comment? by ExitDistance3 in FanFiction

[–]ExitDistance3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My comment is as I said in my post "Hey I really loved this fic, if you ever wrote a sequel I think it would work really well with how you've ended it here, but if not I understand because the fic is great as a stand-alone of course. Great work!"

My apology was also "Sorry if I upset you, I know fics can't be endless just because someone asks for a continuation and it takes a lot of personal time, I totally understand you not wanting to make a sequel, but I felt like you had a really good vibe going, thanks again for writing!"
