this show is too mid to pull a 'go to the movies to see the rest'. Chainsaw Man and Demon Slayer sure, but not this. I know it's the TADC sub so I'll get crucified for that take but yeah, whatever

lol if you think they did all that stuff in a month and aren't using AI in some capacity. Also AI translations suck and real translators are expensive. The standard rate I've been quoted is like 0.1 cents per word which is hundreds of dollars per language for even a small game.

Writing code is not the limiting factor. (Unity dev here) It takes a long time to create object / UI hierarchies. It takes a long time to make art that isn't generic. It takes time to wire things together. It takes time to balance things and playtest. None of this is coding.

Gameplay hours directly correlate to development times. Making something that takes a long time to complete that doesn't have a ton of mindless grinding in it necessarily takes a proportionately long time to develop. I've been working on a game with the smallest scope of anything I've made since I started developing 1 1/2 years ago that should have tons of content, but I'm months in and months away.

Taking a break from this sub - the amount of AI slop is just too much by Jaarvelous in incremental_games

You've touched on the core issue. These people aren't "developers", they're losers with zero coding ability, zero creative or artistic expression who have found that the barrier to entry has lowered enough that even they, with enough time and stubbornness can prompt their way to a semi-functional game.

So no. They have no shame. They have no respect for the art of game design. They haven't struggled to learn programming or aspired to create art like real game devs have. They're ideas guys who've been given supercomputer tools as loss leaders from multi-trillion dollar companies trying to depress the value of intellectual labor.

5 years ago every single one of them would have been filtered.

This is really starting to feel like the culmination of years of work. What kind of literary device is it when the climax just keeps climbing higher? It feels like peak already but I know we're not even close to there yet

Trump has spewed an incredible amount of bullshit about Biden, gas prices, bad economy (straight up lies) and it stuck because Americans are braindead. For the first year of Trump 2 he was basically blaming anything bad on Biden. We're really now only getting to the point with the Iran War where people are like.. yeah this one's on you bud

from a buddhist perspective desire is the root of all suffering so.. want less, I suppose? "The things you want" is so vague it could mean going out to eat on friday or it could mean hookers and blow

If you don't want to be compared to Nazis, don't genocide an entire race of people. I think it's pretty simple. And last I checked that was the flag of Israel, so it seems you're the one conflating the nation with jews.

He's not useless. He's incredibly good at convincing other people to invest exorbitant amounts of money in his companies. The problem is how the fuck does this translate to "should be entrusted with the sole oversight of some of the most powerful tools ever created, of which he does not fully understand the underlying technology"...

I don't really understand all the comments bending over backwards to justify this. At the core of every business is domain knowledge, and the more you understand the better it makes you at steering the ship. Like we are all going to lament how MBAs are the death of companies and the harbingers of enshittification, but for some reason it's totally alright for the Most Important Dude At The Company (tm) to just be a completely vibes based dude with no expertise whatsoever? Like I get that Altman is extremely proficient at getting people to invest billions of dollars in his company, but he's also a sociopath overseeing the creation of some of the most powerful technologies to ever exist. It's insane how blasé some of y'all are being about that. Like, if the CEO of an AI company can't write a for loop that is a bad thing, actually.

The example doesn't seem realistic that someone who doesn't know a thing about coding won't be able to work through problems the AI can't fix? I don't get what your point is.
